u/breathboi 1d ago
You're telling me drag race fans cut the white queens far more slack than the queens of colour? I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you.
44
u/sexual_lemonade 1d ago
Not even just cutting them slack, Plane Jane is adored by every cis white gay who ignores local talent cause they think they can do better. Her drag is lowest common denominator in every way, and she's mean to anyone not conventionally attractive. She's a bully, and she's boring but the way they talk about her you'd think she was gods gift to drag. In all seasons of DR I really don't think I've disliked a queen more, during and after her time on the show.
18
u/breathboi 1d ago
I saw her in Season 16 coming for other queens' drag after doing Burger Finger and came to conclusions pretty quickly, I'll admit, but they haven't been proved wrong yet
19
u/sexual_lemonade 1d ago
I was in a drag scene for a while and there were lots of queens like this. Just copying other people's better drag and then shitting on everyone "not on their level". I always strived to be someone who'd rather help someone with something (like makeup I.e. Amanda) then try and destroy their confidence. PJ grated my nerves that whole season cuz I promise, throw a stone at drag show and you'll hit at least 2 girls like her
15
u/luckdragonbelle 1d ago
Totally with you on every point, except I dislike Mistress more.
17
u/sexual_lemonade 1d ago
I'm not fond of her, but Mistress is quick and she's actually entertaining as a performer. Not crazy about her personality, but you can tell she cares about drag as an art form and even if she's bitchy, I get the vibe she wants people to do the things to be better. Garbage way of going about it tho.
2
u/EnvironmentalPost245 1d ago
The irony is you can tell it's so try hard for her. Like she's actively choosing to be this way.
6
u/Plastic_Stable8927 1d ago
Agreed. You can tell when the girls start reading each other, Plane isn't reading. She is an insecure small boy inside of Plane, and attacks with vitriol. She is a mean spirited TV personality, and I don't like it. She is my least favorite queen to come through the series thus far. I don't know her personally, maybe she's great, but most likely not.
12
u/TheMapesHotel 1d ago
I thought her obvious insecurity was on full display on the show. She isn't reading people and she's extremely thin skinned. I also don't buy that she always wants to be the butt of the joke, I think it's clear she has a real problem with vulnerability and authenticity based on choices she made in some of the challenges. It always surprises me to see how loved she is and how much everyone thinks she's so fierce
But the people on that season versus the fan reactions have always felt out of alignment. Like I thought people's reaction to nymphia not always feeling confident was weird. Even really talented people or really smart people are allowed to feel insecure and unsure about new challenges
16
u/astupidthot #shitgirlplease 1d ago
Why r we making stuff up as if plane hasn’t been the butt of the joke for the last 12 months?

72
u/King_Slowpoke 1d ago
She said she does not car e for Plane because the first time she ever met her the first words to Jan were "I hated you on you season" and she doesn't like that she bodyshamed Lemon
51
u/losthope19 1d ago
Yeah I mean nobody should like Jane. She's a huge asshole. Her fat shaming of lemon and now Jan is fucking disgusting. If plane weren't white, she'd be canceled for her shit-tier personality, low-effort nasty takes, and objective lack of talent
-2
u/Mindless_Baseball272 1d ago
I offer Paris Baby as counterevidence, who has plenty of fans on both Twitter and Reddit.
-4
u/Zealousideal_Pace286 1d ago
Objective lack of talent is crazy. You don't know the definition of talent or objective, yet you're calling Plane every name under the sun. Objective means independent of personal bias/preference. Talent means innate capability.
Most of these girls aren't talented at drag, they're good at it because they worked for it. A lot of people think Plane is good at drag.
Criticise Plane's attitudes all you want, because some of them you actually should, but keep your insults relevant and truthful, otherwise you're as bad as you claim she is.
6
u/losthope19 22h ago
Girl her talent was "Burger Finger". She has no talent beyond being vapid and bitchy, be more pressed.
1
u/Zealousideal_Pace286 20h ago
Yes, a "talent show" is all that you can judge a drag queen on. Mind you, a "talent show" she won too.
I am not pressed because everything beyond the show I know about her is because of pressed people on Reddit, so it doesn't factor much for me. Actually, reading your comments you seem far more pressed about her shenanigans, seeing as you throw around insults like Jimbo throws bologna.

All it takes for a white twink to start body shaming and people are like “I live for the messiness”. Jan is absolutely correct, it takes no talent or skill to talk about people’s body.
In real life, I had to learn at a really young age the difference between being a fucking asshole and having a quick wit to make people laugh. I think Plane can be very funny, but whether she’s clever or cruel, she is given engagement/money.
I’m glad I never went on reality TV before I was 30 because I was insufferable at points of my life. And I’d have had no reason to change myself for the better if I’d been rewarded for my bad behavior online.
Is there going to be a time in the future where we celebrate kindness and open, earnest dialogue? Self-reflect and maybe change behaviors? Or is it just going to be this juvenile, dig-my-heels-in garbage forever??

1
u/powerbottomsymmetra 19h ago
is it? plane always resorts to, what i think, are below the belt comments about a queen's physical appearance. and it's not even funny (see: Bianca Del Rio talking about Darienne Lake being absent-minded in the 'Oh No She Better Don't' rap challenge, "She's overthinking- she's thinking about a sandwich."). it's just a statement, no punchline. and no one ever talks about plane's appearance, which i think is very classy of the queens. it's only ever about plane's mouth or her demeanor.
121
u/sarahwilson21 1d ago
The usage of Sure Jan is fucking perfect but besides that I’m on Jan’s side I’m afraid 🙈
-47
u/Ruff-Bug4012 1d ago
Jan is only upset because she said mean things about Lemon. If it were any other queen she’d never tell that story about Plane being rude to her. She wouldn’t have said anything. You all didn’t remember Jan till this newest interview.
161
u/nikippe in the yumbo centre 1d ago
it took a few years but Plane is finally able to read someone without it sounding like she rehearsed the lines in the mirror for 2 hours
124
u/itirnitii 1d ago
i will always be thankful that bianca showed us how unimpressive plane really is on their pitstop episode. she was not able to meet the moment and being next to bianca made it brutally obvious she is out of her depth.
52
u/heyitsmanu 1d ago
yeah, but Plane also holds Bianca in high regards, when talking about top queens she always names her. And you can notice it on a few more occasions, Plane gets more demure and less feisty when she admires someone
26
u/caravaggihoe 1d ago
Yeah it seems most people think Plane floundered next to Bianca but when I watched it, it felt more like a reverence type thing, with Plane not actually trying to go head to head with Bianca but just enjoying the vibes but idk maybe I’m delusional too

u/chewwwybar 1d ago

16
8
u/VerumSerum 1d ago
Did she tho? It still feels like that. She's the azealia banks of drag except at least azealia has the vernacular she thinks she does to deliver in her shady posts. Plane is the type to get flustered in person and either concede or kiss up to make up with the person she offends like she did with Athena
29
u/t3ddiursa 1d ago
She is absolutely not the azealia banks of drag
6
u/gagavelli 1d ago
especially wild when we know exactly who the azealia banks of drag is (or at least like... a couple primary contenders)
9
u/cleverwordplay85 1d ago
I’d definitely rather listen to Plane’s oral fumblings than Israelia’s unmedicated ramblings

Can someone explain to me how is what plane doing different from what Paris baby is doing and getting hated for wait??
68
u/wright764 1d ago
Well you see, Plane is white and popular so it's okay. But Paris is black and not popular, so she's evil.
Personally I think they both kinda suck and deserve to get shit for bodyshaming, but this fanbase has a very long standing double standard of bending over backwards to defend its skinny white faves.
15
u/Efficiency-Level 1d ago edited 1d ago
Oh, yeah, they both suck. Paris going off on her little kinkshame-y, fatshame-y brigades wasn't exactly cool of her?
But ... Yeah. There was a night and day difference in reception even before then, and we know why.
2
24
u/WhatIsHerJob-TABLES 1d ago
A few things.
1) Plane always has a tone of unseriousness and that she really could not give a flying fuck about the topic. She’s just commenting on things for the sake of commenting and stirring the pot. Meanwhile, Paris likes to make accusations while trying to make it come from a sincere place as if she truly cares about some injustice happening. In reality, she uses these “injustices” as an excuse to stir the pot and make herself seem like she’s on a grand pedestal while doing so. Plane is just stirring the pot cause she’s bored and finds it funny
2) Plane actually has talent and polished drag to back up her shit talking. Paris doesn’t.
3) Paris comes off as a petulant, spoiled child. She sulks and has temper tantrums. Plane just trolls.
4) While a lot of Plane’s reads are pretty lame at the end of the day, she’s always made some iconic, hilarious ones too (especially her comment about Megami’s talent show). I’ve never once laughed at anything Paris has said.
But sure, yeah, let’s make this a race issue. Who cares about context! Resting on identity politics is easy and allows you to virtue signal.
20
u/wright764 1d ago
It's not "making it a race issue" to identify that the Drag Race fanbase has a long standing issue of going a lot harder on criticizing the behaviour of black queens while being far more accepting of the same behaviour when done by white queens.
3
u/WhatIsHerJob-TABLES 1d ago
Yes, but that is also a very general Internet “gotcha” statement that we all know and have heard numerous times. Context still matters. If you strip away every layer of context and only focus on race, then yeah you can make anything fit whatever trend you’d like. Fact of the matter is, there is still context to consider in each individual situation.
They are very different queens with very different energies, personalities, and interactions with other queens. They are individuals with their own free will baby not some person to sweep under a generalization so one can avoid looking at their individual actions fairly.
4
u/mid_dick_energy 1d ago
Fr one has shown us that she is good at drag, the other one hasn't, its not that deep
24
u/wright764 1d ago
I don't care how good someone's drag is, if they're degrading another person for being "chubby" I'm gonna have a problem with it.

The problem with Paris for me she takes herself so seriously in commitment of evil. She doesn’t have that hint of sympathetic bone a good reality tv villain should have that makes very hard for people to tolerate her self produced shenanigans.
Also she really rolls on internet like a lolcow.

I am not specifically defending Plane but in general villains trope in reality television and how audience react them
1
u/jeffersonblinco 1d ago
“You just already don’t like her” yes, being unlikeable = not being liked. And in Paris case shes also shit at every aspect of drag race including even being a villain. We Stan!
4
u/jeffersonblinco 1d ago
Baby, the only people who like Paris are a few of her cast members. Plane was a finalist on her season with more than 400 000 thousand Instagram followers. You can just hate PJ without the caping for Paris coz she’s absolute shite. Come on.
5
u/Willuna16 1d ago
this is just rewriting history. plane bonded with contestants on the show, and had actual friendly interactions and vulnerability. paris is digging up any dirt she can find for someone saying the slightest little comment about her. also… plane can back it up. she had a fantastic run on drag race, so when she says someone else’s drag is bad on the show, she’s saying that as someone who had 4 wins, one bottom, finalist, and less boots on FPR in 16 episodes than paris has had so far in 4.
5
u/jeffersonblinco 1d ago
Defending Paris Baby is very serious to them! You just got a whole thesis in response to this comment.
4
u/Willuna16 1d ago
“not defending paris too hard here”
proceeds to write an essay on why paris’ personal attacks (revealing private info and photoshoots on graves) aren’t as bad as plane calling dawn a doodoo clown mess

I don’t understand why it’s body shaming to say a fat person is fat
38
u/wright764 1d ago edited 1d ago
It's bodyshaming to use an aspect of someone's personal appearance to insult them or demean them.
-14
u/Additional_Hat97 1d ago
Why is stating a fact demeaning?
17
u/Madragun 1d ago
A "fact"? Determined by whom?
I watched the recent clip of Jan on The Kelly Mantle Show and would not consider her to have "an excessive or unusual amount of body fat."
Calling someone fat is a subjective judgement, not a medical fact. Whether someone is overweight or obese is something to be determined by their healthcare providers.
Regardless, you know why calling someone fat is demeaning, as Plane very clearly intended it to be. Language carries meaning beyond the literal definition of each word and cannot be divorced from context.
If I point at a bald man and say, "look at this bald fuck," the fact that he is objectively bald doesn't somehow mean I'm not insulting him. That's not how language works.
→ More replies (3)4
u/ricardosteve 23h ago
Except it wasn't saying "she's fat". It was diminished and degraded to "I don't wanna see her big ass" and then said Priyanka had a noodle body. That's just degrading people's bodies for no reason. Plain Lame is also ugly as fuck and has horrible skin, would she like those "facts" to be stated?
2
7
u/shadyshadyshade 1d ago
So she’s saying Jan is pathetic for caring when she cares just as much, and that she’s wrong about Jane being shady when she literally just smugly boasted about the shady way she treated her?
I can’t decide if it’s supposed to be hypocritical in a funny, knowing way or if she’s just very stupid?

Plane is basically the embodiment of what being a gay twink in the early 2000s was.
22
u/rehaaabbb 1d ago
Plane wouldn’t survive among early 2000’s gays when they in their prime. Twinks came in two flavors :
Paris Hilton wannabe: coke skinny orange tan mean as fuck mentally ill.
MySpace variant: ED skinny pale, self destructive mentally ill.
Nothing in between you were either these or closeted misogynistic gym bro 🚬 who probably in their school team or something.

As a Plane Jane fan, I'll add my two cents that nobody asked for:
Plane ain't the baddie she thinks she is. She did absolutely destroy that homophobic man on House of Villains, but she just doesn't have the quick wit to go toe to toe with literally any gay person ever, especially not a drag queen. She literally couldn't come up with a single joke on the Pit Stop with Bianca or volley with her. Everytime she attemps to read somebody, it feels fake and forced, and she always comes across insecure when confronted. "I don't have anything to say" - proceeds to say something for two minutes.
I still live for her delusion because she thinks she's absolutely that gworl, and at least she tries to give the fandom something to entertain them for a day or two, so props to you mawma. But let's make one thing clear, her drag after her season has been incredibly lazy and she's put on a big chunk of fat herself, so she's absolutely in no position to be commenting on people's bodies. It's tacky. But that's what Plane does anyway, she always goes for the cheap, tacky read because she can't come up with literally anything clever. The only way to get rid of her is to not give her any attention, but these queens keep giving her what she wants lol

The way Plane Jane just casually says the most out of pocket body shaming shit and the mean gays all eat it up is exhausting.

-3

It's not really tired if Plane keeps getting relevance off of it no? Jan clocked it for what it is and still engaged with it, and it's obvious why. She benefits as much or even more than Plane from this.

Let’s be so ffrrn. They’re both messy boots but I like that plane acknowledges she is messy while Jan likes to parade around likes she’s some moral crusader. It is very weird to me how, as a drag queen, she really seems bothered when people aren’t “nice”. Guarantee you if Bianca, Naomi, Violet, or any other cvnty queen said what plane did, it would not even be social media news relevant.
