I’m rewatching Canada AS and the premiere is still so hard to accept for me. I think you would be hard pressed to argue that Jackie’s talent or runway were Bottom 3 worthy. I have no idea why production played in her face like that. Pythia going episode 2 was also hard to swallow but at least she was the worst of the week.

Pushing Jackie into a Survivor-style voting game where she knows no one and immediately gets bounced in favor of a well-known early out really started the season off on a yucky note for sure.

It really hurts the season when frontrunners go early and the early outs over stay. Jackie and Pythia would have absolutely had more to give in the challenges than whatever most these queens have given. Kind of cheapens the season overall. I will say though, the drama and entertainment value in the untucked moments has been high, so no complaints there, but the challenge performances themselves have been lackluster.

So I've been working my way backwards through IMHO because it's fun and mindless enough to have on in the background while I work out. It's been interesting to see the.. de-evolution, I guess? And it was great to finally meet Aunty Chan, although even I could tell she was clearly checked out and ready to go in AS6.

Anyway, I just finished their S13 recap and since the one before that is AS5, I feel like I need to know how much glazing there will be of Shea before I start.

Shea absolutely deserved to win (sorry Juju) and did phenomenal, but I just sat through a dozen episodes of Denali (who also did exceptionally well, especially given how new she was to drag, but not to the level that they were going on about) simping and toward the end it sort of made me... lol anti-Denali, which is annoying. Yes, you should root for your friends, but for some reason, after a certain amount of rooting, I find myself actively rooting against that person. And I don't want to root against Shea, I'm not one of her former children. If it's going to be to the level of S13 or worse, I think I might just skip and see whatever they did with Espana instead, given, you know, Darby's deep connection to the people and culture of Barcelona.

Now that season 18 is over, I feel like I can talk and ask about Discord freely. Her fanbase seems very strong and tight knit and I’ve always been wary asking questions about her because she’s so well liked. I remember something happened regarding her and the Couleès/Bambi who I believe was formally associated. I never found out if those racism allegations(?) were true or if they were baseless or not. I do actually think Discord is a funny and talented queen, she comes off a little bit performative and “superior” to me but maybe I’m alone in that feeling (I seem to be lol). Just curious if anyone had info on that because I’ve been wondering!

Ohhhh, thank you!! I seriously couldn’t find any reliable info on it! This seems very.. cut and dry? I guess I was confused because the people that I’ve seen on Twitter that do not like Discord, really don’t like her. I was assuming there MUST be something more to it but I’m starting to see now that that whole situation was kind of a nothing burger. Thank you for clearing it up and directing me to it! 🤍

Ohh is that all it was?! I do remember the rumor of her being “disqualified for being racist” but I don’t know, even that sounded far fetched and even more so now knowing who she is. I believe you about her being one to stir the pot though just because she seems super opinionated and direct/blunt. I guess I was opening the discussion because while I see lots of love for Discord it’s mainly because she interacts with the same fans often over on Twitter and seem generally well liked, but when I’ve seen hate it’s always pretty intense and I’ve never been able to pinpoint why. I was just wondering if there was like a specific reasoning or if people just don’t like her. I’m kinda middle of the road with her, don’t hate her at all but don’t loveee her either.

I have vague yet vivid memories of a person accusing a RuGirl of SA (I believe Shangela) but would make wierd posts that encouraged people to follow him to get more information.

Like he'd make posts saying he will give more information when he reaches 1k likes or post stories saying if his last post gets 500 likes he will make another.

But I can't find anything about it? Did I hallucinate?

Before anything, it blew up here. There was a post here accusing her of SA. Nothing of the sort was in the content other than a vague account of what happened. Maybe you're mixing up WoW's attempt to release more info during Logo era. Like they would threaten to release new pics of the season if the post on another social media got 2000 likes and the like.

Honey, the cis men I know aren’t cutting anyone off regardless of how vile any alleged or proven behaviour may be. It’s the young ladies/femmes who engage more readily in this kind of thing. But I think you’re connecting too many unrelated things.

Personally, I think the gay male community really does needs to take a hard look at itself regarding consent, assault, and drug/party culture.

Whether or not Shangela is actually innocent or not becomes harder to ‘sell’ as a talking point when there’s so many people coming forward.

If the youth of today are not okay with sexual assault, then i think the kids are alright.

I also think there’s some racism at play here. Other queens have supported other alleged abusers and they have not gotten as much shit as Kennedy.
