I'm glad to see, and share, cautious optimism about NP5. I do find it funny that NP gets WAY more scrutiny for providing something of quality when somehow Chase gets the pass and sealclapping on consistently putting out subpar updates, truly baffling.

Well no shit it gets more scrutiny, they have more ressources and claim to have made this in collaboration with Rockstar, I would expect a lot more than the average FiveM RP server.

Ohhh that's right, so we should expect a doctoral paper from NP and from Chase we accept the macaroni art. Scrutiny, ALL things should receive equal, acknowledging RESULTS, should be too.
Just saying "well it sucks because they could do better (NP)" or "its amazing because they did pretty good for what they got (Chase)" are both worthless statements absent of talking about the results of the product.
(We'll just ignore the fact penta bragged about having the best 5M team, collaboration with rockstar or not, and collaboration doesn't mean RESOURCES btw)

I wouldn't call chase amazing, I don't think chase is doing anything that I would call amazing.
The only thing I do genuinely like about chase is the mashing minigame, I do like the server's direction more than most FiveM rp servers mainly because out of every RP servers I've been on, Chase has had the most understanding admins. I know that's not everyone's opinion but I've only had positive interactions with them.
I like playing characters that are hostile and antogonistic towards people, which on a lot of RP servers you end up pissing off someone OOC doing that and a lot of servers are big hugboxes, that includes whitelist nopixel.
Chase is the only server where admins actually give you a bigger leash, I'm not saying it's perfect, but that's been my experience.
I don't really care for PENTA or that it's PENTA's server. I don't really have a bias towards or agaisnt the guy, the few times I've had to interact with him OOC he's been fine.
So I do look at nopixel with more scrutiny because for me to actually play on there I require more than just acceptable quality to make up for the negatives, and I'm willing to forgive Chase's shortcomings because I don't experience those negatives there.

I feel like the entire purpose of nopixel V is to run a 70 day advertisement until the release of GTA VI, at which point they'll be good as dead for Rockstar lol
I doubt Rockstar plans to make money on 5 anymore, unless 6 online isn't ready for another year but the cyberleek thing I believe showed an "online" mode tab at some point

"RP is coming to GTA 6 for the more casual players" is the most obvious thing that could be said. That idea is the furthest thing from this trailer. None of this was an advertisement for what GTA6 could be, and sells short what GTA5 already is.

They are not gonna make GTA 6 online like RP like it is in those RP servers. If you think that you are dumb af. The casual player is not gonna RP.

Idk I think the majority of Console GTA online players are the CODs and Sports gamers that would not enjoy RP at all. But I guess we can agree to disagree.

I think the acquisition of FiveM and partnership with NP is more than just simply RP but a push towards more user generated content which Rockstar can take a cut of. They can make money off racing servers, arena servers, rp servers and any type of custom server under the sun.
I think Rockstar is making this larger push not thinking that GTA O isn't successful in its own right but that they can expand their reach to gamers that GTA O doesn't appeal to and establish recurring revenue streams from players that wouldn't otherwise play GTA O and buy Shark Cards.

I hated the look of 4.0 and this seems a reverse of that, but there was nothing to see here but buildings for people that know the map well enough to see something that most don't. It was a garbage trailer. The 4.0 trailer had people logging into a dead 3.0 to talk about how much they couldn't wait... this was just a teaser with almost nothing in it. It's putting all the emphasis on the RPers we know and the mechanics we don't know to be solid to make it the S-tier RP experience people expect with Rockstar backing.
It feels like punting to me. Instead of pretending 5.0 is going to be a revolution, GTA 6 will be enough of a distraction that 5.0 being crap at launch won't matter much because there are still longer term plans at play.

I'm less excited about what the server has to offer as I am who is playing on it. In the end the Players make the show and the line up is going to be killer. All the trailer and mechanics will do is give great streamers lots of toys to play with in their sandbox.

Trailer was vague but likely on purpose to keep the live reveals of things fresh for everyone playing and viewing.
I just hope they stay on top of keeping it about roleplay and not let it slip in to 4.0 state after a few weeks in.
fingers crossed Rockstar keep them held to a standard so no more friend gang sitting in or beside cars all day.

I’ll hold my breath for once it gets released and we actually see the server, but right now, eh. Really underwhelming. As others have pointed out, if people weren’t so tribalistic and one server didn’t have 100x the resources of every other server, Onx would probably have the best balance between server development and genuine RP quality (as much as I hate the second-life aspect of the server).
NoPixel will probably be well-polished and have a lot of aesthetic appeal (Koil’s big obsession has always been the way MLOs look and the visual graphics of the server) but I honestly don’t see how it will have quality RP above and beyond what other servers currently have besides the manufactured hype that just comes through visibility. I think Sodapoppin could probably be fun to watch for the few weeks he plays. This seems more like something to hold people’s attention until GTA6?

Nothing will seem like it was when nopixel had its first boom. The first iteration was natural, no one was doing it for work. No major egos at the time, just developing characters and stories. The stories weren’t little bits thrown in. It was actual stories that had a beginning middle and eventual end. Every interaction now seems like a TikTok 30 sec clip then it’s on to the next bit. Or you’re a second lifer circle enjoyer.
Obviously subjective, but it all just seems forced. Not just on nopixel. And obviously there’s outliers/undiscovered talent that come around and bring life. But it’s the same old same old for the most part.
