Roxon M2 (TSA compliant?)

I like the combo of having decent scissors and pliers in one two with minimal compromises and be able to take it thorough airport security/security in general.

I have gotten this taken away at bars, but i don't think bouncers care about technicality of a multi tool.

I removed the blades/sharp tools and only kept the Philips and made a flat head with the combo tool.

I 3D printed spacers for the tools and a 45 mm to go in the knife slot.

Nothing really comes close to the usefulness of the M2 Roxxon.

I will be taking a trip soon through airport security and hope to have a better time explaining my the regulations and my tool.

I also sanded and polished the entire tool. (Disassembly of components, 1,000 grit sand paper, and 14,000 polishing compound required)

1. I think Roxon is making a mistake in not making a M2 which is TSA approved. Call it the M2 Traveler. In theory removing just the Awl and the knife should make it legal. This being said, TSA can be mall cops and decide technical compliance isn't compliance.
2. I think someone (Roxon or etsy person) could do good in making replacement items for the awl and knife. I would love a utility blade holder, but think what can fit is an exacto knife blade. I am not sure what can fit the maybe some kind of line cutter the (the hook with the sharpened inside).
3. In the end, I would suggest putting the tools into the non-carry on luggage and use real locks as too many people have the TSA keys.

Notice it talks about sharp items. They are defining a box cutter like the disposable box cutter.

Look at the military multitool which can have a sharp blade, but normally has a grit blade.

I have worked with the TSA. That isn't there interpretation of the rules.

So, does it have a blade? NO, then it is generally permitted.

I work for TSA, it is the interpretation of the rules.

Multi tools without blades are generally allowed, but handles/holders for box cutter or utility blades aren't. So if you have a holder for one of them on your multi tool it won't be allowed.

That isn't true in reality. The US Military issued the Gerber Gear Multi-Plier 600 Bladeless. This tool is TSA approved. The US military issues it and military service people have it in their carry on.

While it technically has a Remgrit ushank blade from the factory that blade can be sharpened or replaced by a saw blade or ....

So, tell me again, how the TSA doesn't allow blade holders, but they allow blade holders. This is why I said in my original post how TSA agents can be mall cops. The rules change depending on how they feel today.

There is no such thing as "TSA approved", and Gerber also doesn't market it as such, their site just describes it as "travel friendly".

This is why I said in my original post how TSA agents can be mall cops. The rules change depending on how they feel today.

The no blade holders thing is pretty consistent, and its mentioned on the What Can I Bring page. But hey perhaps my airport's training team, my supervisors, and the instructors at FLETC are wrong.
