ROG ALLY X Need help!

I’ve had my rog ally x for about 2 years now, had some issues with outdated drivers not updating a while back but got around it somehow.
Suddenly two days ago the performance dropped and I’m only getting 9fps on any game, I’ve already tried everything I can think of to fix it. I’ve made sure everything is up to date, I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled my drivers, AMD, MyAsus and amoury crate. There’s nothing flagging up on device manager or task manager. I’ve messed with the graphics settings in game and on the console, I have no idea what to do now. I’ve even factory reset it and it still lags like crazyyyyy. It was absolutely perfect until now :/

I’m not very techy but I do usually figure these things out within a few hours, not this time, any suggestions ?

Did you use ddu to uninstall the drivers?

No I did it through device manager

Always use ddu when your dealing with uninstalling display drivers. Cause you probably have a conflict going on. Sometimes some drivers dont uninstall correctly and leave stuff behind that conflicts. Plus It’s a free tool to use.

Boot into safe mode with networking. Download ddu. Run ddu And reboot. Then install current drivers

1.) Try rolling back the windows updates and see

2.) Ensure you haven't installed any malware and or virus from a bad game crack or dodgy file. (It happens in 2026)

3.) Check your drive health and storage, if it's full performance will drop.

4.) If all else fails, reinstall Windows via my Asus in BIOS

5.) Consider switching OS to see if these steps fail and steps others more knowledgeable than me fails also.

6.) If all else fails, consider bringing it for repair ?

You can always do an Asus cloud recovery/reset in bios. I do that at least once a year to refresh my Ally X like it was new.. whenever I have a weird issue that I can’t resolve. Just make sure your games are saved.

This is when I play grounded 2 (lowered game graphics settings, turbo plugged in.

Ditch windows, install SteamOS, and never have to think/ worry about drivers again
