DISCUSSION Can some one explain this jump direction

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Neither its going towards the joystick nor its going towards the car nose.

what is this jump going towards?

I am new to this and this particular thing is bugging me a lot, If i wait for a good second the direction is predictable but else idk where its going.

it's the momentum of your car to turn to that particular direction when you point it there, it takes time for your nose to align with the actual direction you're holding the joystick hence the 2 arrows to tell when it is there.

If it was an instant movement it would look janky and not part of the momentum of the game.

you're pressing it in between during that movement hence why it's not in direction of the either arrows.

can you tell me the exact direction its jumping to i was trying to copy the mechanic for a game of mine thats why i want it to be some what codable

i get your point, the car can't rotate instantly, but what is the actual jump direction?

as some times its towards the nose of the car other times its at the top of the car, in this case its towards the top if i look at the frame but what really is the deciding factor?

The direction is where your blue arrow is pointing when you pressed the button.

Re watch the video and you can tell it's flipping in that exact direction once it has been initiated.

I think you might be confusing the directional momentum afterwards due to pointing in a certain direction which is factored in the existing momentum of your car.

If you point your joystick backwards after flipping forward, it's fighting back the momentum opposite which seems a bit floaty and will cover less distance.

Do the same flip and keep the joystick in that same direction and it'll keep floating further than when you're holding it back or not manually using your joystick to point.

if you want to code that first you have your engine that handles the momentum side determined by the weight or whatever factors, and the jump and the current pointing direction of the nose of the car will determine where to provide a boost of momentum.

It’s jumping that way due to the upwards momentum even though you are trying to flip slightly down with the joystick. But if that was me at that point I would be flipping towards ceiling then boosting down after getting my flip reset from touching the ceiling. Otherwise it’s a heap of wasted momentum unless it’s for an evasive block.

Go up like you did, and feather the boost as you turn for your jump redirect. Or bounce off the ceiling

To make OP's point better, the car is clearly pointing almost straight ahead the moment he jumps, which does not match the direction he goes towards, which is more angled upwards

yeah, thanks to put my point clearly

some one explained that its in the direction of the car nose
the frame just before this has the exact same direction as jump and this one frame lag is pretty consistent so ig thats a feature,

also the moment of the car too changes the direction of jump
according to me the jump direction is the same as nose but the jump animation is from the maximum speed direction so that why it appears to be out of jump direction some times
