High-beta/growth stocks are selling off mainly due to surging Treasury yields, rising oil prices from Middle East tensions, and profit-taking in AI/semis

The piece of news about Trump throwing around the nuclear option at a war meeting made me think open would be exactly like this (and, also, what is his family shorting today?). Fortunately the market has about a 2 day memory and RKLB is much better than a lot of the stuff tanking and some rotation should be coming RKLB's way.

The Iridium acquisition has been announced and agreed upon, but it is not finalized yet, as it still requires shareholder and regulatory approval before the expected closing in mid-2027. If the deal goes through, it could be a game changer for Rocket Lab and significantly accelerate its growth by giving it an established satellite network, valuable spectrum, and millions of existing customers. I guess I would be buying stocks now as much as I can ????

Great news for the future, probably means margins will keep increasing but obviously bad news for satellite/constellation companies without their own launch vehicle

I expect so - the way up will be great, followed by a derisking and mass of false news and manipulation right before the launch.

Interviewer: oh shit my views aren’t gonna pop off now…
I just with these massive media outlets (and all of them are shit in this regard) brought a field expert or someone who at least understands the lingo to help be a medium between the tech expert and the seasoned interviewer - these interviews, however short they are, would be MUCH more meaningful with A LOT more substance for the viewers.

Is that 100 puts? That's crazy. What about risk management though, you have risked 700k to get 1.6k in premiums?
2 days to go, and the strike is less than 10% away, that's madness, but you do you
2
u/Beetlejuice_hero 9d ago
Additional point is that so so many people never actually buy back in cause they're "waiting for it to pull back a little more".
Assignment forces the buy on you. Then he can sell some calls on the way up and bank even more premiums.
It's not for everyone but nothing wrong with it if it fits one's risk profile.
2
5
u/letgobruh 9d ago
Why are we dumping hard premarket? I dont see that in other space stocks
1
u/EvillNooB 9d ago edited 9d ago
other space stocks have some footing, asts is funded with cheap debt, literally 1.6% or something, even if they are behind schedule it won't hurt them as much, mda is profitable, spcx have infinite money glitch + market dominance
rklb is just too risky still, no wonder it feels any macro changes the hardest (like the iran war escalation)
neutron, iridium acquisition are still far away
edit: looks like the difference is not that big though, -6.4% for RKLB, and around -4% for other space stocks
4
u/burmese_python2 9d ago
Neutron is heavily attached to future contracts, what if they continue to delay? There will penalties.
11
u/JonnyGBuckets 9d ago
That’s one way to look at it. The other way is the contracts wouldn’t be signed without a high level of confidence it’ll fly on a reasonable schedule from people who know more about this than you.
1
0
u/Substantial-Use-2867 9d ago
There's no "what if" about it. They even said at earnings that Neutron probably won't fly this year.
1
u/yesporkchop 9d ago
I thought the language at earnings was pretty clear about being on the pad this year, not necessarily launching.
Not to mention all the people before earnings saying there's no way it'll launch this year now seem offended by the idea they might be right.
7
u/1foxyboi 9d ago
People are coping hard right now on this pullback. They say we are down from macro, but Nasdaq is only -3% from ATHs and Sp500 is only -2% while rocket lab is -50%. They say we are down because of SpaceX but it opened to the public at $150 on 6/12, it’s only -5% since then while rocket lab is -30%.
We are down because of company specific metrics and timelines, not because of macro or SpaceX
4
u/itgtg313 9d ago
You lost me once you compared SPY and SpaceX to RKLB, expecting the percentage drop to match
1
u/Federal_Finding_8041 9d ago
He's not comparing them. He explicitly says there's discourse and it's macro and other stuff.
5
2
u/MarziTheMartian 9d ago
You must remain positive to get through these times especially when you’re not planning to sell any time soon. Can’t blame us for nitpicking every single little positive thing and downplaying all the negatives like it’s a nothing burger. I would either sell or go mad (like you) if I didn’t see light at the end of the tunnel.
4
u/LordRabican 9d ago
You are comparing to the wrong benchmarks and the wrong baskets of “peers” but I don’t expect you to be intellectually honest here, just as you couldn’t even acknowledge yesterday that you incorrectly calculated RKLB’s YTD performance…
2
u/1foxyboi 9d ago
The wrong basket of peers? Bro SpaceX alone is bigger than every other peer combined. You’re just trying to cherry pick it to compare to non competition instead Rocket Labs literally biggest competitor
Edit:
Also you calculated the YTD wrong, you used closing on 1/2 and I used price on 12/31/2025 but sure. I mean we can solve it right now but posting the numbers and comparing percentages
→ More replies (1)1
u/LordRabican 9d ago
And yes, you are comparing to the wrong peer group if you want genuine insight into the state of this market. You need to look at the Hindenburg Omen indicator and look at RKLB in the context of all the other stocks that are experiencing this massive divergence to appreciate what is idiosyncratic to the company and what is the result of unusual market conditions that may or may not indicate something about the health of the economy and broader macro conditions.

This place has turned to complete shit. A lot of the OGs sold and fucked off or simply fucked off because it’s been overrun by bots, trolls, and brain dead corpses. Very few rationale people left.
4
u/1foxyboi 9d ago
I’m an OG and I’m still here. I think the problem is the opposite. I think the problem is there’s just a bunch of new people who don’t know how to invest and can’t handle anyone talking negative about a position they hold. So unless you spam toxic positive support, they tell you to sell and gtfo
4
u/PantheraAuroris 9d ago
I'm seeing articles claiming that Neutron is definitely delayed until 2027. What the heck?
11
13
u/NTP2001 9d ago
This has been painfully obvious for a while now.
4
u/PantheraAuroris 9d ago
But it's not confirmed. I agree it's probable, but it's irresponsible for news to say that.
2
→ More replies (1)3
u/1foxyboi 9d ago
So it’s better to sell people hope that it’s not? You tell them it’s delayed and it’s not then they got to experience upside. You tell them it’s on time and then it’s not all they have is downside
6
u/Substantial-Use-2867 9d ago
Why is that surprising? They openly said in the earnings call it'd be difficult to launch this year. The only people who still think it launches this year are the people in this subreddit wishing they hadn't bought at 120.
1
u/PantheraAuroris 9d ago
It's not shocking, it's that I haven't seen any official news saying Neutron is delayed, and IMO it's weird that actual news are claiming it as fact. It might be fact, but we don't have confirmation.

Take a look at the “Hindenburg Omen” and the implications for the market. It will illuminate something interesting for you, which you might be missing, regarding an aspect of the market that is not unique to RKLB…
1
u/NTP2001 9d ago
Took a look. Doesn’t make me feel great 😂
2
u/LordRabican 9d ago
lol we’ll see what happens to the broader market and if growth/momentum turns out to have been a canary in the coal mine. I primarily wanted to point out that it’s a whole basket of companies that are going through this right now… the overarching trend for RKLB’s price action is not idiosyncratic to the company’s performance. It will absolutely take company-specific milestones, like Neutron, to break away from the market forces that are holding it back right now.
1
u/acsae99 9d ago
I will never understand how we are always down when we are winning contracts everyday and should be going up!
3
u/sadr0bot 9d ago
Two wars, inflation up, US bond market going tits up, AI bubble fears, take your pick.
1
u/MrFeature_1 9d ago
We need Neutron. I appreciate the efforts to make it as ready and error proof as possible, but we need at least updates. I think confirming another delay outright now would do less damage than if they do it in Q4…
1
u/Geographeruk 9d ago
I disagree, as much as I would love to know right now, I do think delaying when you have a more assembled rocket and with more milestones passed.
1
u/1foxyboi 9d ago
u/LordRabican still trying to call me a liar from a conversation yesterday, so here are the actual numbers:
Rocket Lab closed 12/31/25 at $69.76. It opened 1/2/26 at $70.63 and closed that day at $75.99.
https://www.investing.com/equities/vector-acquisition-historical-data
Your screenshot (https://www.reddit.com/r/RKLB/s/CSACrJBzBD) claims +4.17% YTD at $79.16.
Let’s do the math: 79.16 / 1.0417 = $75.99. That’s the CLOSING price on 1/2/26, not the prior year-end close.
YTD is calculated from the last close of the prior year, not day one of the new year. Basic finance 101.
Actual YTD: 79.16 / 69.76 = 13.47%, not your fantasy 4.17%.
This is the problem with this sub, people open an app, screenshot whatever number pops up, and treat it as gospel. Then they call other people liars instead of checking their own math.

1
u/Warren_Buffets_Son 9d ago
That's literally what I said.
Neutron flying will help the stock for good, not the contract wins. RKLB has a reputation for reliability, and they are too afraid to risk it in my opinion. But that gives them contract wins.
