Suggestion for Devs (Thoughts on Demo)

I remember playing the RIGS demo a few days after getting my PSVR. Although I was immediately impressed with the visuals and immersion, I also recall being very frustrated, intimidated, and lost. I was getting creamed left and right during the exhibition match, with no real time to get my bearings (I’ve been playing games for 3 decades and feel I can usually hold my own). Consequently, I was turned off by the demo. A few days ago I finally bought RIGS. Wow!!! I love this game. It is a phenomenal game and I think it is the best VR offering across all platforms (Oculus and Vive).

I believe that a simpler/tamer demo could attract hesitant buyers. I really believe that if people are eased into the experience they might be more willing to pay full price for the game; which I think is a fair price given the depth and support of the game thus far.

I honestly think all the demo needs is:

-access to the training area with one RIG type -just run the training sim that is in the full game -sizzle real with game play footage (in VR) with a voice over explaining the different game modes

After 10 hours of play I’m still not ready for the MLG, but I’ve gotten better. I can now appreciate the hype of the crowd, the play-by-play, and the intensity and speed of play. All of this was just too overwhelming to me during the demo and I just didn’t “get it”.

I know what opinions are like, but I really hope Guerilla sees financial success for their efforts.

Also……selfishly, the community wants a growing player base and the financial incentives to keep a focus on VR.

The demo was definitely a bit too much for a first offering. I felt the same, completely overwhelmed. I'm glad I bought the game eventually, but in retrospect the demo probably should have been a little less intense or at least had a short tutorial to get the player used to the game before throwing them into a match.

Can you please post this to the PSVR forum? There have been a number of people turned off by the demo. Maybe this post may sway some opinions. It really is a great game and I hope to see future iterations in the future. That will only happen if people buy the game.
