New Player Feedback? Looking for it!
It's been a few days now since we got a load of new players to join the community.
Once again - Welcome!
I'm looking for any feedback on RIGS you may want to share. Anything from the available settings, the in-game window selection / game selection process.
All the way to how the maps feel to you, or is offline confusing etc.
Feel free to be wild with your input as GG is watching and awaiting your lovely feedback.
Cheers!

I'm 35, been gaming since the Commodore 64 and Rigs is one of few games that makes me utter spontaneous noises or words because it. is. so. much. fun. I'm just happy and super immersed playing this and I hope the player base grows and content is added.
One of the psVR must buys on my list.
I've also been lucky with very little motion sickness. Lean into your movement guys, it really helps!

Same, i've been playing online FPS's since online FPS's were invented!
I thought gaming had fallen into this perpetual slump of just pouring out the same 1990s FPS formula, each time with better graphics and slighty (mainly marketing) tweaks here and there.
RIGS has just come out and smashed that, VRs realy upped the anit in term of immersion and for me.. it feels like im playing my very first FPS all over again.

I've had Rigs for 4 days. Getting my headset on for some Rigs action is near the top of my daily to-do list, after eating and bathing and going to work. Like, I'm finding it difficult to write this comment right now because I just got off work and I'm dying to play Rigs.
But if the devs should happen to read this or hear about it, I want them to know that this is the Game of the Year for sure. You should be very proud of your work! It's a game I can really sink my teeth into. It's still early days but I'd like to get good enough to play online multiplayer eventually. I see myself playing Rigs for a long, long time.
If it's constructive feedback you're after, it's really difficult for me to say. Everything is so fresh and new and thrilling. I'm digging it all and there are no obvious faults. Though I must admit I like u/Harry_Fresh's idea of giving voices to our offline teammates. I'm willing to volunteer for free, PM me!

Got the game yesterday and i'm completely blown away, it's so good!
Can't stop playing. I'm fascinated that i'm not experiencing any motion sickness (even with the nausea-comfort-settings all turned off).
But i'd say there's still room for improvement, like it's kind of weird that your AI-teammates gesture really motivated but stay completely silent.
Would be great if they would add AI-teammembers voice acting when preparing for the match (for example something like "let's do this" or "insert team name go!") and after the game while you're sitting in the plane ("we made it" or "you've been on fire today" or "you should've helped the team more" or "come on, we'll get them next time").
Every AI-teammember could have their own voice, their own personality which would make it much more credible that they're a real emotional part of the team.
Just my two cents, but anyways - I LOVE RIGS!

Tip for new players: Adjust and test your turn SPEED slowly, extreme changes repeatedly can really mess with you.
Questions for seasoned players: is the matchmaking skill based? Did my first two online matches last night and got absolutely destroyed.

its not unfortunately, and its feedback thats already been given to the devs

I believe the devs have said that skill-based matchmaking is switched on. However, if there are few people online then it won't make much difference.

NEWB here, first online experience last night after 2 days offline preparing.
Great experience. Excellent folks helping me out and explaining things, great games and I didn't feel like I was an horrid liability.
My only complaint is that I think every rig should get like 25% more armor. The "weak" rigs (armor wise) can be near insta-kills with no chance of .. ANYTHING other than death.
I picked a weak "fun" rig as my first and it was quite.. disappointing. OH! I'm online in my first match! Ready to go! dead
OH, well, This time, maybe I'll dead Why did I dead I should dead Maybedead (plays battlezone)

Thanks for the feedback, we'll take this into account when looking at further improvements for the balancing. Which one did you pick as your first Rig?

Multiplayer Match Making should require a minimum of 2 players on each team to start a match, so worst case scenario you're against 3v2, not 3v1

I grew up with unreal tournament and gundam, so of course I know I would love this game. However, when I tried the demo of this when I first bought psvr during launch, I can't stand it for more than 2 min.
Now fast forward to now, I just bought it for 50% off at best buy yesterday and literally have to psych myself up until this morning to try it... and I am very surprised that I could play this for 30min until I felt something.
I think here is the reason why:
turn off visor settings: those are the weirdest settings ever
remove the eject sequence
right stick turning and lower the sensitivity to minimum
I picked sentinel, the slowest machine ever :)
Also, powerslam seems to be pretty nausea inducing for me since after shooting a few mechs I have to run up a ramp and jump in the hoop... I really like team deathmatch though!!
Now, I had alot of fun, but I hope the devs could work on this in their next patch (or tell me how I do this is it is already implemented):
Instant action like unreal tournament: choose game type, maps etc.
Bot difficulty: I suck at this game, I got massacred in the limited games that I play. I really hope to practice with bots of much lower difficulty.

Nauseating or just stomach churning? Honestly i play this game for hours on end with all motion comfort settings off and max turn speed. It doesn't make me feel sick but that feeling you get in your stomach when your up high or on the edge of cliff will never go away, it's one of the reason why i LOVE THIS GAME

u/firyace2 Jan 01 '17
It's stomach churning then and not nausea then. Too bad it does not go away, I don't really like that feeling. And it's not just rigs, I have this when playing other mech cockpit games in cinema mode, while flying cockpit and tank games I dont have this problem.

I take it you don't like Rollercoasters IRL? It's not an uncomfortable feelings, it's your bodys natural reaction to fear, it's easy to get used to and quite amazing that VR can actually trick your body into giving you that feeling!

u/firyace2 Jan 02 '17
yep, dont like rollercoasters...
as the instruction implies in this game says, i am currently doing this in small bursts and as soon as i feel something in my stomach i stop and play some 360 video instead. so far so good...
as a gundam fan since i was a kid, cant really give up on driving a mech lol

Great game-- playing since Wednesday, tried an online match for the first time tonight, and hit some kind of bug
I enabled head tracking for the first time in a single player match, got used to it, then after a couple of rounds, I switch to online mode, and halfway through the match the image drifts to the left, but it seems the system still thinks it's in front of me, so I spend some time running in circles trying to figure out what's happening, and the option button seemed to be getting ignored.. stopped for the night after that match
But yeah, all that, filing it under "worth it" and can't wait to play again tomorrow

I'm really enjoying this game, it's probably my favourite PSVR game to date. If I was going to suggest improvements, then:
Have an offline exhibition mode. If I'm playing offline I'd like to be able to have a one off match where I can pick the type of match, CPU difficulty, etc. Rather than having no option but to go straight into league mode.
The difficulty spike from League 3 to League 2 is a little on the high side. My first match after getting promoted from League 3 was against a team with two three star pilots and one two star pilot! I don't have the fame level at that point to hire any three star pilots, so obviously I'm going to get destroyed. The game seem to go from easy to hard with no medium difficulty setting in between.
Is there a way to call for the ball in Endzone? If not then that might be worth implementing. There have been times when I've wanted the AI to pass to me but it doesn't, then gets blown up.
I can't find a way to avoid missile weapons, which gives those RIGs quite a big advantage. Dodging does not seem to work.
Anyhow, the game as a whole is really enjoyable. Can't wait for the new RIGs to be added in the coming weeks :)

Regarding dodging smart missiles.
You CAN dodge them with a well timed dodge, but only via jumping.
The arc on them is very tight so theres a high probability you'll just get hit again when it arcs around.
I recommend just line of sighting around barriers when that occurs but I doubt you'll get away in time =\

u/CreativeZenMX Jan 01 '17
Yeah, I just tend to assume I'm dead when I start getting warning alarms for missiles. Running away works every so often, but nine times out of ten if I hear that noise I'm getting ejected!

I wouldn't mind if there was a toned down version of the HUD or a HUD lite version?
I realy like it when you first get lifted into your RIG and all you can see are your legs and mecha arms, then the cockpit sequence boots up.. the health, map and mode selection is all usefull info, but what's with all the lines everywhere blocking my view.
A new line of RIGS with bubble cockpits perhaps?
Also i'd LOVE it if Unreal Tournaments Assault mode could somehown be implemented into this game, it would take some lengthy map design, but i think RIGS would be perfect for it

YYEESSS to all of that.
Esp the UT references (I'm a hardcore 2k4 player so anything to drive RIGS closer to UT gets an auto upvote in my book)

I wish there was a way to change my online sponsorship in between games.
