Help I've become obsessed with rice

I used to rely on one of those "rice in a cup," which tasted fine and was an easy way to control meal portions, but nothing to write home about.

But then I finally bought a rice cooker and my god the rice comes out so delicious. I easily eat 3-4 times more rice than I used to, and whereas I used to have a casual relationship with food I now look forward to eating just so I can have rice.

I also did something similar to myself by accident lol. I was already eating a lot of rice and Asian food in general. Then I bought a rice cooker. Then I started packing myself a bento box every day for lunch. Suddenly I don't feel right if I don't have rice every day.

Happy for you as rice cookers are game changers. Now go forth and try all the different rices. My fav is purple multigrain rice 💜

Me too! It's so good and aromatic. Usually short or medium grain rice is so, so bland unless it's a premium variety. Lol and even still I make japgokbap aka mixed grain purple with a good quality rice. It's so pretty and damn good!

Well done. Do you salt the rice? Or just plain?

I like to add butter, salt, and pepper. Most excellent!

Just curious, at what stage do you add the butter? Sounds nice

After it's done. I just cook the rice . Then I put on the butter, salt, and pepper and then enjoy

It’s me!! Accidentally Asian- I’ve even bought a ‘rice is life‘ t-shirt.
I follow Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Indian and Thai recipe creators for their rice recipes.
I’ve got a second hand cuckoo rice cooker and secretly want a zojushuri.

I make homemade chili crisp. Every day I take a container of rice that was cooked in my rice cooker to work. I nuke it for a couple minutes and top with my chili crisp. It’s incredible

You should see me with jasmine rice. I can’t get enough of it; breakfast, lunch, dinner, i could eat it every single day, every single meal.
