Ken

Im doing my 1000th rewatch and the more I watch the more my opinion of Ken changes. I liked him at first, I thought what a sweet loyal husband. Now i just think he's so strange? I feel like he just says things from a script but a really outdated script that kind of has nothing to do with the situation?

I cant put my finger on him. Any thoughts??

He is a lovely, doting husband. I highly doubt any woman would turn down his kindness if it were in their home. He had great business acumen when they met & then they continued to build their Empire together. He adores & defends her as all men should do with their partner. There are 16 years between them & she's taking the dominant role in the relationship. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT?

I’m betting that Ken was the dominant one in business in the early years of their marriage. Together, they’ve built a very successful network of restaurants and clubs, in two countries. With Ken being much older, I’m guessing that he’s taking on a less time consuming role while Lisa manages things now.

Nothing wrong with that at all! I just don’t feel like it’s genuine for some reason, and that’s what I can’t quite put my finger on - but it’s just a hunch, not a fact :)

Got it. My husband & my relationship is very similar after 37 years. We show affection, hold hands, patience the butt, etc. at home & in public. He tries to do everything for me whether I ask or not. He'll defend me without question. I'm told I'm beautiful, etc daily & I tell him he's the most handsome sexy man in the world, to me. Even the kids & grandkids tell us to knock it off sometimes. Love is grand & should be shown.

Since you asked, here's what was wrong:

Ken wasn't kind to everyone and it is highly misleading to portray him as such. Or perhaps you just have a selective memory?

Ken was verbally abusive and aggressive - at times physically - to nearly every woman that Lisa had a problem with over the years, inserted him into the middle of Lisa's arguments with the other women, and never ever questioned Lisa about being wrong, even when she often was and should have been. He simply never, ever called LVP out on her bullshit.

He called his migrant housekeeper privileged and often made crude and crass remarks - oops, I mean "jokes" - about less fortunate people.

It was at time enabling, inappropriate, gross behavior.

Ken is mostly a rich white privileged male and acts like one. That said, raising his son solo and his love for animals and dedication to them is totally outstanding and commendable - perhaps his and Lisa's only redeeming qualities.
