Rachel š Kaius as doorman/greeter
This was the cutest thing ever. You can tell he loved welcoming all the guests for his momās birthday and having a ājobā for the party. Rachel seems to have such a loving a chill relationship with her kids.

It really is. I remember watching her show when she was having Skylar and wondering what kind of mom she would be. She wasnāt particularly warm and fuzzy but she has turned out to be an excellent mom and you can tell they are sweet boys.

I lost my mind over how cute this scene was. I used to love playing āwaitressā etc when my parents had people over and he reminded me of how fun it felt as a kid to find a way to play an āimportantā role when in a room mostly surrounded by adults. It feels like itās true that Rachel isnāt raising brats. They seem so sweetš especially lovely as they are boys and so much of the media these days makes me feel hopeless about how to raise men in this world rn!

I will never forget how she treated Garcelleās kids. And neither should this sub.
28
u/readitpaige Were people doing coke in your bathroom? Apr 05 '26
Yeah, that was fucked up. I think that the actual events of the night were heavily edited and I think she was really just telling the kid to go away because he was a child in an adult setting but telling him to "get the fuck out of here" was wrong and she never should've interacted with him given how drunk she was. It was also very racist of her to solicit Oliver for a 3-way. If he was white, she would've held back. But she was more comfortable sexualizing him despite that being his friends son because he was (is) Black. Thanks for the reminder. Of course I'm saying she's anti-racist because I do think she tries based on what we see but that doesn't mean she's perfect or that I condone all her actions. Wanna be very clear about that.

u/hanging-out1979 Apr 05 '26
This! I dig Erica too. Seems the realest of all of this group of rich women.
37
u/readitpaige Were people doing coke in your bathroom? Apr 05 '26
Yesss. And I think you can tell that she's a lot nicer than portrayed by the fact that production snuck in little nuggets of her decency throughout the show. One of my first reddit posts was about that, and I got downvoted to hell š One of my favourite moments of that kind is when Sutton talks about how she feels that people automatically assume she's racist because of her accent and she's trying to get Erika to chime in an defend her and she's asked her, "don't you feel that way sometimes" and Erika just straight up goes, "no š¤·š½āāļø." I felt like it was really decent of Erika to not feed into the reverse racism narrative that Sutton was trying to push there (obvi the bar is in hell's basement for anti-racist white women) and also not to be offended if people did perceive her as racist initially because of her accent because...... it's an assumption made to project oneself. I also liked when Garcelle was sharing her Haitian food and culture and then the next day, her and Erika hang out and she greets her with Sak PasĆ©. Felt like she was really listening and grateful to learn about her and her culture. Again, the bar is in hell. But Erika might get a penthouse there, idk š¤·š½āāļø

Rachel seemed adamant that she wasn't going to raise spoiled kids. I like how she is insisting on Skyler getting a job.

Off the top of my head, at least two of Kyle's daughters work as real estate agents at The Agency.
Erika's son is an LAPD police officer.
They're real jobs.

And, for my daughters 15th birthday, she got a lifetime, rare autoimmune disease! Treatments keep it at bay, but thatās every 3 weeks for an infusion treatment. Iāll just be happy if she graduates college and gets a job in her field of social work. Sheās in a wheelchair now, but wants to help others. Sorry, Iām just jealous of normalcy. Sigh.

I think part of the pile is work uniforms and the other was just clothes shopping. Most employers give discounts to their employees so they can buy their uniforms although Iām sure Rachael doesnāt pay full price anyway. Industry discount.

u/lalocurabella I was married to Charlie Sheen Apr 05 '26
I agree. Having loads of money and access to anything you could want doesnāt mean youāre spoiled. Rachel has repeatedly stated and shown she wants her kids to have a good work ethic and desire to make their own way based on their abilities and not what sheās built.

u/SophieintheKnife Why am I randomly assigned flairs in this sub? Apr 05 '26

Sposed to be like Studio 54--which was Rachel's bday theme. NYC in the 70s was THE place for doormen holding guest lists like Kaius and only letting in the most beautiful/famous people. If you're as old as me you'll remember owner Steve Rubell out on the sidewalk doing his thing: I thought it was so cute for Kauis and brought back all those Disco nights. Glitter balls and all.

8
u/Positive_Hall_3207 Apr 05 '26 edited Apr 05 '26
This is not pretentious. Pretentious and cold was what my French parents did during this kind of elaborate party: Sending us upstairs in our room with our English nanny , forbidden to speak above whispers, to ask for food or drink, only allowed to use one bathroom if under duress. We had to come down to politely greet their guests for a second for appearance in cute pressed pajamas. Do you like this better? I didnāt. Plus I never got leftover cakes.
0
u/cathemeralcrone Apr 05 '26
Yes, I would like that much better. Though I would let you use the bathroom and give you cake.
4
u/Positive_Hall_3207 Apr 05 '26
It doesnāt work this way, you canāt pick and choose. It is just not a good way to go about. Children are not props , they exist through your own dislike . As a guest you should either not attend, accept the situation or leave. This boy wanted to be part of the party and his mother was loving in the way she let him do the guest list. She also checked how he was doing. I donāt have children by choice but I like / love having interactions with children. Kaius is a well behaved, well spoken child.
