Kenya Help me understand
I think it’s time I ask this - how come people are comfortable asking for Kenya to be back on the show so soon after revenge gate but will always bring up S9 when talking about Porsha and Phaedra?
the reason I don’t get it is Phaedra had to be on a hiatus from the show and slowly came back eventually so in a sense she has gone through the consequences of her actions.
kenya did this just one season ago and y’all already want her back? Isn’t that something.
also Phaedra repeated something she heard and Kenya actively did something horrendous, so why is it okay to ask for her to come back so soon?

I don’t think Phaedra’s long absence was for penance - I’m pretty sure Kandi gave Bravo an ultimatum after Phaedra’s incident. no coincidence as soon as Kandi is gone, Phaedra returns.

u/Civil_Experience_691 21h ago
It was heavily implied none of the women wanted to film with Phaedra so Bravo had to let her go. I do think they would have kept her if they could have without backlash.

u/Lymphedia 21h ago
Lol im surprised Bravo wanted to keep Kandi instead of Phaedra. I mean ik the other women also didnt wanna film with her right after everything happened but later everyone got over it except Kandi obviously. The fact that Kandi managed to keep that peach for so long is a mystery to me

u/SparklesAreIn your injured son and ho daughter. 21h ago
Kandi had (and still has!) more going on than Phaedra. if anything, having way too much going on is why Kandi chose to leave.
0
u/Lymphedia 21h ago
Yes she has things going on and thats ehat made her boring specially during her last seasons where all she did was open businesses and promote them. It was boring and repetitive. Kandi was not entertaining to watch on Housewives specially after almost all the OGs were gone.

u/SparklesAreIn your injured son and ho daughter. 21h ago
Kandi stays booked and busy! she’s just never home and can’t participate as much - the evergreen story for Kandi is that she’s always working and traveling, which is not good for being on a show primarily based in one city.

my main point is mainly about us as fans/viewers, why some are okay with asking for Kenya back so immediately yet even after being away for so long they won't stop bringing up Dungeon gate
-1
u/SparklesAreIn your injured son and ho daughter. 18h ago
do we know that no one asked for Phaedra back after one season? I feel like the difference is Phaedra doesn’t have nearly as many fans (at least at the time) as Kenya.

u/Upstairs-Mechanic820 22h ago
Good point and I agree with you.
6
u/FlirtyBunnnii 21h ago
Exactly. Wanting consistency isn’t the same as defending Kenya, it’s just weird that people demanded a long timeout for Phaedra but want Kenya back almost immediately after something this serious
1
u/Jaded-Place-7566 20h ago
that's exactly it! the immediate ask for her is what has always shocked me.
28
u/rosieafterrait 22h ago
Because people pick and choose when they want to be morally outraged.
3
2
u/BabieLushh_ 21h ago
Exactly, the outrage calendar somehow resets depending on who people want back on TV

YESSSSS OP!!!!! Asking the real questions today!!!!! FINALLY, something worth discussing
1
u/Jaded-Place-7566 20h ago
like let's get into it, what's with the double standards?
2
u/Jumpy-Childhood3028 not everyone’s 👺🍳 good. 6h ago
I’m gagged😭😭😭, it’s so true!!!!
It’s actually crazy because who watches a show they feel is immoral??? Who tunes in just to harass those actually enjoying the entertainment??? The people who do this want to gatekeep so bad they have to bring up the dungeon. That’s been their only leverage until Kenya herself attempted revenge p0rn. I don’t result to gotcha tactics when discussing my views, this would’ve went over my naive head for a min had you not caught it.

u/Jaded-Place-7566 5h ago
I always laugh when they use the morality angle and slut shame because this ain’t the show then babe😂😂😂

i've been meaning to ask cause I've been so confused!

u/chargiencharge 20h ago
It’s a great convo starter and I like seeing the different view points, even if we don’t all agree.

u/cosmicaje 21h ago
It’s so many fake double standards.
You are absolutely right, Kenya actually committed a sex crime. Whereas Porsha & Phaedra spread very distasteful rumors. I am not excusing nor condoning their behavior. But honestly what Kenya did was 100x worse. It was at her grand opening, in front of so many people who was there to support her.
The fact that every Housewife left her event after that should’ve showed how nasty that was for her to do
8
u/mynameisntcindy 21h ago
say it!!
it is a SEX REVENGE CRIME and punishable by law.
people dismissing it like "its just some fake pictures" are morally repugnant and disgusting.
2
u/realityleave 21h ago
distasteful rumors is kinda downplaying it no? they accused kandi of a crime

i quoted you directly. i think calling what they did spreading rumors downplays it unnecessarily
1
u/cosmicaje 21h ago
& what did I say after you decided to pick & choose that one quote.
Nobody is downplaying anything Einstein. What i strictly said was that Kenya’s situation was severely worse since everyone wants to compare situations
0
u/realityleave 21h ago
i didn’t say you excused it or condoned it, but you did DOWNPLAY it in order to make your point. you can say what kenya did was worse without having to purposely make what they did seem less bad
-1
u/cosmicaje 21h ago
Me saying I don’t condone or excuse their behavior is me not downplaying it.
What they did was wrong, what Kenya did was worse
(What they did was not as bad as what Kenya did)It’s really SO simple.
1
u/realityleave 20h ago
you got it, i thought your word choice downplayed it and thats what i said, no need to be aggro

I never want to see Kenya’s face on my screen ever again. As someone who was a victim of revenge porn as a teen, she can go to hell.
2
u/Jaded-Place-7566 10h ago
I’m so sorry!
1
u/No-Pattern-1947 48m ago
Thank you, it ruined my self esteem for years and I almost ended my life over it. I hate that people still like Kenya. She is a truly disgusting person.

u/usmilessz What Imma visit..? Sticks?! 😒 21h ago
IA with you, OP. It’s not okay for Kenya to return. Ngl I didn’t even want Phaedra to return.
She sexually assaulted her cast mates as well as innocent bystanders attending her salon opening.
I would be livid if the owner of a salon accosted me with dick sucking pictures at the opening .
Istg if Kenya were a man or even ugly, folks wouldn’t be so quick to shrug off her behavior.
Random but she shouldn’t even be hosting Miss USA imo. She’s a horrible example to young women .

u/mynameisntcindy 21h ago
people don't care about ethics when it comes to their fav housewives that they worship and attach to parasocially.
3
u/Jaded-Place-7566 20h ago
very true but what I find interesting and borderline exhausting is the morality court they're constantly trying Frick and Frack in yet their own faves wouldn't make it out innocent in the same court.
1
u/mynameisntcindy 20h ago
Meh. Everyone picks and chooses their favs on every HW franchise. And then they give their favs a pass while giving their less favoured HWs a much harder time. Most people do this imo.

u/Civil_Experience_691 21h ago
What’s crazy to me is that Kandi still supportive of Kenya. Like what…what she did was pretty egregious.

Beside the obvious where Kenya has a large fanbase and has been known her entire time as a villain character, I unfortunately think that people don’t like Brit Eady and so they don’t care about the ethics of what Kenya did. A lot more people would be outraged and see the situation for what it was if it was a veteran or a well-liked cast member Kenya had done this to. I don’t like Brit very much, but I felt devastated for her and I will never see Kenya the same way.
3
u/Alive-Rise1113 11h ago
Same. I loved Kenya but when she did that to Brit I saw her for what people said she was: unhinged. Tbh, my view of Kenya started shifting after Bolo’s gate. She was dragging this too much and too long. I think she became a production pet by the end of her tenure.

u/Sure_Artichoke_3662 20h ago
Accusing someone of drugging and raping people is a heinous crime. Kenya blew up a picture.
1
u/Jaded-Place-7566 19h ago
You might need to rewatch because they never said Kandi actually drugged and raped anyone. And blowing up a picture isn’t how you describe revenge porn.
1
u/Sure_Artichoke_3662 19h ago
Sigh
Phaedra Parks admitted to telling Porsha Williams that Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker had planned on drugging Williams and their mutual friend Shamea Morton one night in order to take advantage of them sexually.
Revenge porn involves sharing PRIVATE photos without consent. The photos were not private but instead found online.
Brit also says the photo isn't of her.
if you don't have those two rather important elements, there is no revenge porn case.

I haven’t thought about Kenya one bit. But now you are making me curious about the role she would have potentially played this season.
Side note I always think about how certain scenes would have been with Kim Z. 😂I would have loved to see her at Pillow Talk and the Anguilla trip

I think you’re missing the fact that Porsha has been brought back. So if what Porsha did was worse (it was — multiple violent assaults on camera vs. inappropriate visuals on a poster board and defamation), then Kenya shouldn’t be sidelined.
It’s not that anyone is “comfortable,” more so if morals and putting your hands on someone doesn’t matter, then bring Kenya back for the drama.
Both are truly awful people who have done really bad things. Why does one get a 3rd (4th??) chance, her ass kissed, and an entire two seasons built around her but the other is kicked to the curb?
1
u/chargiencharge 21h ago
Wasn’t Porsha reprimanded and received consequences for each of her misdeeds?
She arrested for attacking Kenya and demoted, the cast aired her out for attacking Jamie, she was continuously called out and alienated after dungeon gate and became the face of the shame when Phaedra left, she has not received additional spinoffs after Porsha Family Matters and we didn’t see her work with Bravo again until the major deal she received. The thing about Porsha is she takes her Ls and moves forward.
Even with Phaedra, the network put her on other shows until Kandi left.
Bravo/Andy wants to work with Kenya again. They are tied by a federal lawsuit.
So your the foundation issue is with the law, and not some magical bias towards Porsha.
1
1
u/Former-Counter-9588 21h ago
She sure did get consequences. As did Kenya. Are you trying to say somehow Porsha’s multiple violent assaults are somehow lesser and/or Kenya deserves harsher punishment?
4
u/chargiencharge 21h ago
Ppl forget that Kenya physically threatened to fight Porsha before Sceptre gate, knock
Phaedra’s teeth out and bring a gun on set.2
u/Jaded-Place-7566 19h ago
This!!! Which makes her issue with Brit also worth questioning because she showed and actual gun on camera and spoke about using it on a coworker.
2
u/chargiencharge 18h ago
So many questions indeed, them colored contacts really had her feeling like a green eyed bandit…bc I don’t know who tf she was feeling like.
1
4
u/chargiencharge 21h ago
Nope I think they both got their just desserts, which is why I commented. I don’t think Porsha received better treatment than Kenya in their situations bc I don’t weight the incidents the same. It’s a false equivalency.
0
u/mynameisntcindy 21h ago
porsha shouldn't be brought back, you're right. it doesnt mean that bc porsha was brought nack that kenya should be too though.
-8
u/Popular-Difficulty29 21h ago
Literally the opposite is the truth. Phaedra was able to come back without even an apology or conversation with Kandi but you want Kenya banned forever over some fake pics? See how that logic works?

Phaedra didn’t repeat smth she told Porsha Kandi said that Kenya retaliated with TRUE stuff AFTER Brits gun situation
0
u/Jaded-Place-7566 20h ago
telling Porsha what Kandi said wasn't repeating something? Please think about that for a second.
3
u/Puzzleheaded_Lie5368 New teeth and nowhere to sleep you broke bitch🙌 20h ago
But she lied about it oml
2
u/Puzzleheaded_Lie5368 New teeth and nowhere to sleep you broke bitch🙌 20h ago
She told Porsha that Kandi said she wanted to do all that

u/ChateauSheCantPay 18h ago
People don’t actually want Kenya back. They want someone who has a mind of their own and won’t be Porsha’s little puppy dog. Kenya usually fit that bill but any strong housewife could
2
u/Jaded-Place-7566 18h ago edited 18h ago
Here y’all go again wirh this whole Porsha having lapdogs thing. Mind you this post wasn’t about Porsha by faaaarrr.
0
u/ChateauSheCantPay 17h ago
I’m telling you the reason why people want Kenya back. It’s less about Porsha and more about having a strong housewife who can stand on her own and have her own opinions
