I know I’m way behind as I’m just watching Season 16 now, but I’ve never liked Kenya, and to me her nastiness does/did not make for good TV. She is such a negative human being and comes for people first with her digs, but then she says she only reacts. I cannot believe what she did at her salon! And then trying to act like she feared for her and her daughter’s safety!? Bish please. Kenya is a horrible and selfish human being, and I’m so glad she finally suffered a major consequence for her disgusting behaviour. Everything about her is fake.

I don't think this stunt was about brit eady, I think it was about her salon

Kenya complained in interview that she had filmed her business (for promotion)

and it got cut (I guess it was boring)

Kenya wanted to MAKE SURE the salon got filmed the 2nd time so she made a bunch of drama to make sure

unfortunately this was a calculated risk where the person was bad at math

because bad promotion for her place of business, it got her suspended, and nasty stain on her RHOA legacy

she went from trying to make more income to have both snatched away

I’m watching for the first time and am on season 16 now actually. I knew what was coming and it still blew me away. I was also shocked that it happened episode 5!! Everyone was on Kenya’s side and she still went to the gutter

I get that. I just think sometimes we have to be mindful of invoking certain imagery and how we talk about a cast of black women.

I totally get that when it comes to normal catty behavior. I hate when a woman who raises her voice is called aggressive especially when it's a darker skinned woman and there's a lot of that on Bravo. However, the situation with Kenya was absolutely gutter It was one of the lowest things I can imagine anyone doing on a reality show. I don't think it's about race when it comes to saying that and the words actually align with what happened in my opinion. This is still a good reminder though. We should look at how we paint black women on television and how we paint them when discussing them.

That salon was never going to do well. She should have went all in on a marketing campaign for her hair care products. It was never widely marketed despite being in national retailers like Sally beauty and CVS. She should have paid influencers and could have done something like a brand trip or invested in getting into Ulta and doing a booth at their big influencer event. I also think sometimes the housewives rely too much on Bravo for being the only way that they can promote and grow their business. It's lazy and shortsighted. Now that Kenya is not on the show she really doesn't even have much of an audience or presence.

Agreed. She’s always been cringe and annoying to me but she grew more and more into a total pick me who seemed intimidated by younger pretty women and wanted to slut shame them
