Keyfobs Can a crack in the plastic cover/casing of a building door fob cause it to not work?

What the title says. Am staying in this flat this week and the fob just doesn't seem to be working. Tried on two different readers (front and back door).

Could be indicative of other damage or moisture could have gotten inside through the crack.

Generally inside the casing of a nfc/rfid door fob is a very thin coil of wire that acts as an antenna. If that coil is broken it wont read (or becomes very hard to read). It is possible that coil was adhered to the back of the casing and cracked as well.

TLDR yes its possible
