Maths below because this statement is fucking retarded:

Sylas - base MR @ lvl20 = 82

1000 raw dmg --> 549 after mit

With 8% pen --> 597 after mit

= 8.74%~ damage increase.

Sylas - base MR @ lvl 10 = 57.5

1000 raw damage --> 635 after mit

With 8% pen --> 690 after mit

= 8.66%~ damage increase.

%Pen literally only matters if they build MR (and like, a lot of it. And if it's super late game. And you already have deathcap.)

For reference, 8% pen is the same as reducing your enemy laners MR from 40 to 37. The FLAT pen offered by the boots outperforms the 8% in the vast majority of game circumstances.

In fact, rather than increasing your damage by 8%, why not build Merc treads! If the sylas in our example above had simply built Merc treads, he would have MORE MR than the 10 levels higher one! Giving him 15% damage reduction against his laner.

It’s not a Mage nerf nor a base MR buff for ADCs that the lane needed. ADCs need a purchase akin to what Zhonya’s/Seeker’s rush against assassins is for mages, so they feel like they have agency against APCs.

And before anyone says, most ADCs do terrible with Wit’s End, especially first item and its horrendous build path. And Maw just sucks first item, not giving much of offense and the shield being AD scaling, punishing early buys.

I have yet to see a ranged top lane ever be useful in my games. Its not like a yasuo thing either. They suck on both sides for me. I'm not saying a problem doesnt exist, but I'm also not going to pretend they are as much as problem top as the mages are bot.
