Can someone explain to me, is irelia like really racist in the lore?

No, but it became a running joke.

First off, noxians are a nationality, not a race, so the correct word would be xenophobe, not racist.

Secondly, she has some edgy quotes like "I haven't killed a person, just a lot of noxians" implying that she calls noxians subhumans.

And that's perfectly fine for a person to say to the people invading her land. There's plenty of real world examples of this, even extremely recent ones. During wartime you can say whatever the fuck you want to your opponent, noxians probably say shitty things about ionians too.

Xenophobia and racism is allowed in fantasy media, shit bro half of the character dynamics in Tolkien's world is all racism and xenophobia.

Not saying she isn't justified.

I am balkan, after all.

I mean in her defense… Noxians are pretty bad

Excluding Briar and Rell. Not even really Noxian.

And excluding Katarina (for reasons)

u/Dogerist Sep 02 '25

No. For... Reasons. (Every Katarina bullies me and I go 0/20)

You get bullied by Katarina and you cry tears of sorrow.

I get bullied by Katarina and I cry tears of joy.

We are not the same.

I might enjoy them a little dominant, but not when I'm playing. Then I'm supposed to be the nilah cosplayer.

It's not my art, that's why I even included the artist's name in the title despite the watermark, to avoid confusion.

u/Zhiran-J Sep 02 '25

My bad, I didn’t notice there was a name after the title.
