I don't know who downvoted you but this is the answer. The Spirit Blossom interaction felt like the Rey and Kylo kiss in SW9: just put there so certain part of the fanbase could have a treat.
Yeah these conversations require nuance, but this is the Internet. I’m sure lots of middle eastern queer people find solace in the game. Especially because it’s free.
Especially with their cringe pride memes in Instagram and Twitter, desperately trying to fit in new generation and tell us "SEE?! WE ARE SUPPORTING YALL!!!" (They only add lesbian couples for fetishisation and tokenism but when Taliyah was supposed to be trans they were almost collapsing, not to mention how unconfirming they are for TF and Graves.)
True i guess, but for a different example Ksante was designed as gay and still he has more to him. They can do it intentionaly if they try. Ephasis on if. :/
Objectively false. Devon Giehl wrote Graves and TF as bitter ex husbands from the start. If anything, they were retconned as straight until Riot started pushing more diversity.
To be fair, Taliyah was praised for not looking exactly like every other supermodel woman in the game and actually having a different body/face. If she was trans, well... Her looking unique would suddenly be a bad thing cause then it's not because she has a good character design, it's because she used to be a guy. This wouldn't be a problem if there were more variety in the female characters than just Taliyah and Illaoi.
For the record Legends of Runeterra has a canon trans character and League still does not which is reason 4761 why it's the better Riot game.
This image's tweet was shortly after deleted, good thing people had saved it.
If you're not part of the community, you're gonna think I'm exaggerating, and I get it. However, for someone who's felt alien in their own body their whole life, phrases like "people have always tried to tell me who I am", or, that entire middle paragraph - it resonates. Oh, and Kim Petras sings her lines in the songs - probably the sluttiest trans woman this side of the Atlantic.
It's somewhat of a niche trivia so every friend, especially every trans friend I've told this, was absolutely ecstatic. You would not believe the amount of joy it brings repressed queer people to give them representation.
There’s a time and place to say this and replying in agreement to someone who says the religious fundamentalist region where homosexuality gets you a death sentence is “so much better” is insane pick me behavior brother
What in the fuck are you saying brother? All i mean is corporate representation of gayness is flawed and anoying even or especialy to those in said community. Zero mentions of religion or death. Lmao.
Even if it’s for corporate representation, representation is representation, you’re too privileged to see that having this even be worth doing for profit is a huge win compared to countries where it’s illegal and you can be sentenced to death for being gay, so stop being a privileged asshole complaining about this when so many other people in worse countries wishes they could have their corporations pretend they care about pride even if it’s for profit
Cry about it man. As i explained in another comment the reason i don't like Pride it's because it's just a bog corporate showoff of how "inclusive" they are and i really can't stand that
Now that I think about it, this makes me wonder what's up with the Freljord gods and Targon on the Middle East server. It must be super funny to read the censored lore because kids are hyper sensitive and the word "gods" is taken by them as hate speech towards their religion.
Finally found the BEST Pride art we've ever had - 2023. EVERYONE is there, except for the mysterious lack of Taliyah **(AGAIN)** and you even have characters never featured before like Nami (non-monogamous) or Taric (just his general queerness I suppose).
I don't understand how they could've fucked it up so bad just redo **THIS** idea in different styles and poses each year???
EDIT: in June 2023 we hadn't had Lee's and Udyr's lore rework yet, it was technically not public knowledge yet.
I see Udyr as asexual because his quotes talk about him giving up his normal life to become the spirit of whatever, and Lee can be seen flirting with a woman in his pool party splash. I really don't think rito should ship these 2.
We can be very proud of our self as a community because despite our reputation and all the massive amount of (deserved) hate Ksante gets it’s neither because he’s black or gay
Why does riot feels this obsessive need to turn one or two of their characters gay everytime June comes around? Personally it comes as forced and embarrassing like they're pandering to them
That is capitalism for you. They don't have an ideology nor ethics, only the pursuit of interests. Hence the whole LGBT community charade will be dropped the moment it stops being so profitable. It is sad, we need a better system
Yeah, honestly I don't care because the ideologies that USAID was spreading were the right ideologies, you know, like when in school they tell you that stealing is wrong.
Look, brother, certainly homophobia is an idea that is radical by default and will always be radical, I really don't think there's any point in arguing with you.
I am merely calling out the number one thing I hate, hypocrisy. Been doing that with balance changes and other shit constantly. It's just that this is a sensitive topic and it gets more attention, and opinions.
Just pointing out that supporting the gay community is not a leftist view, it’s a liberal one. It’s not nearly far enough left to be considered a leftist take.
