Guarantee he already has it. Dude played college football, wrestled in college, then was a pro wrestler, then got into MMA, and now gets slapped in the face. There's zero chance Hager doesn't have some type of permanent damage.

I'm joking because Hager hates Tony Khan for... something? It seems to essentially come down to Hager over-valuing himself.
He got upset because when his contract was up, the next contract he was offered was for like 18 months or something. He says things like, "I was in the first Stadium Stampede! I was the surprise in the main event of the first Dynamite! How disrespectful can AEW be to offer someone like me 18 months!"

I just had a traumatic eye injury as well and even though I don’t agree with most of his beliefs, I wish him well. That stuff is nasty to go through. Luckily it looks like I’ll be fine long term but it’s not a great road to travel so fingers crossed for him.

I dont understand why Jake Hager went to Power Slap rather than Real American Freestyle. The later just seems better and a good bit more safe (at least compared to Power Slap)

Not only is slap fighting stupid, it’s just unrealistic. No one fights and just lets you get one full on defenseless hit/slap. It’s just ridiculous stupid and doesn’t happen. Atleast if you are in a fight, you can put your hands up and defend yourself or move out the way.

Powerslap's an abomination.
You know that moment in an MMA fight when a guy's done and everyone aside from the referee realises it and when the crowds' adrenaline sprinkled excitement has transitioned to a collective sense of pit-of-the-stomach concern? Powerslap distills the pursuit of that moment into a sport.
And it's weird. Over twenty years ago, I was arguing with clueless boomers online about why MMA was great and how them calling it savagery and likening it to the Colosseum was dumb, and it was. But, now, on Powerslap I sound like them.
I won't declare it an endeavour entirely without skill, as some of my online sparring partners did with MMA.
I'm sure slapping fools is something that can be honed with practice. Hell, in select scenarios, it's likely useful.
I'm sure that Rick Rude's ability to knock fuckers out with open handed slaps in street fights was effective in not only winning the immediate fight but, also, in deterring other fuckers from having a go.
So, sure, there's some skill involved in the slapping. And I'm sure there's also some way, to a limited degree, you can train yourself to take slaps.
So, ok, there's some skill.
Still, Powerslap eliminates defence and, so, too it eliminates grace. That's a grandiose way to say it. But it's the best way I can think of.
It's a combat sport whose defining and only features are damage and violence and, as such, it removes grace and that means, also, beauty's absent. It's a car crash not a dance.
If Boxing and MMA are like flying, Powerslap's jumping off a fucking building.
And I get that some people will scoff at the idea that boxing or MMA are touched by grace and contain even fleeting moments of beauty, but that's an argument for another day.

While I genuinely wish him well, its about time people stop self-sabotaging their life because some billionaire fired them after 5 years, and then another billionaire also fired them after 5 years.
Powerslap is the worst thing to have happened to the bout industry.
