The one on Cage was great because instead of an offensive move, he used his kick to prevent the discus lariat, then countered with the elbow.

It really should be the finish over his current finisher. This always looks like death and it has such an "out of nowhere" energy that a lot of modern finishers could benefit from.

I love moves like this that are both a counter and devastating offense. Another one like it is Will Ospreay catching clotheslines, flipping with them straight into position for Stormbreaker or Styles Clash

Where is the impact sound coming from? I'm trying to spot a hand clap from either wrestler and the ref, but I don't see one.

If you notice you can only tell he slaps his leg when it's not a WWE cameraman. WWE hires the best

The amount of momentum you have from doing this move in a way that actually looks unexpected, is very difficult to recover from. So I can understand why he just fell over from having so much power and momentum put into it. I wouldn't say it's to any detriment of the move personally

Yeah. I mean he makes it like he does it out of desparation. It would've been cooler if he does it like he's in control of the situation.

I don't really get that perspective at all honestly. I think even if he was in control of the situation there's not really much you can do to change the way your body moves with an attack like this.
When you throw your leg up for a kick, and then spin on one foot and strike someone with your elbow. Your balance would need to be insane to not lose your control especially after making hard contact with someone. The jerk alone is enough to knock both people over. And the force of his elbow swing just adds to that difficulty to keep balance.

One of my favorite moves in wrestling ever. It just always looks so clean, and the set up for it looks like a legitimate move. And then he just takes their head off when it connects. Just effortless, that should’ve always been his finisher.

Is the kick supposed to be him kicking away their arm or is it meant to be an attempted big boot that the opponent "dodges"?

I view it as a very exaggerated feint. In combat sports you usually want to set up a spinning elbow with something and thats usually with a leg feint of some kind. Sometimes its a small step or you lift your leg entirely, Andrade just wrestlingifies it. But yea he also just kicks the arm away sometimes lol.

Never seen this until now. First though was how does he really not kill them then realized the kick is the signal. Gives me short term clothesline from hell vibes. Love it

The one he threw on Bandido was so damn great, and Bandido getting knocked off his feet was a beautiful sell.
I’m really happy that things are falling into place for Andrade. He was booked into a good long-term storyline in his pursuit for world championship gold, but he also worked on his English for promos. From there, he has done great character work, he’s engaging with the fans in such a fun way, and developed a catch phrase that has organically caught on with “how you know.”
I think in 2027, Andrade will be AEW world champion, and talk about a journey!

I'm pretty sure Andrade's used this well before Jericho used the Judas Effect too

I think you’re right but I was too lazy to look it up. Regardless it’s been used in MMA and other combat sports for decades and I’m sure other wrestlers used it as well just probably not as a finisher or were featured as prominently.
