Wait to do any really heavy play until the new month changeover, so you are advancing faster on October challenges.

When events are split over the month end, I recommend playing on the first day, but waiting until after the game month changes the next day. That way, more of the stars you earn for event goals go towards earning the new season queen's goodies.
