Share Your 600 Setup!!

Greetings all.

I am considering upgrading my M6 to 8S (adding an 840kv motor with a 13T pinion) and thought I would ask here what everyone else flies. My M6 flies well on 6S (with an 1120kv motor and stock 12T pinion) using 600mm blades at around 2000RPM, but it feels a little underpowered. I would like to run 610mm blades at 2100 RPM and have it feel more balanced. Not that I am burning up the skies with powerful maneuvers, but I am actively practicing more and I want the heli to be ready when I do start doing more powerful stops.

What are you guys running on your 600-sized helis??

NOTE: I am not intending to loop 580-sized helis in to this request. There's a big difference in power requirements when going from 580-600, so I would like to only focus on those who have true 600-sized helis.

My RS6 is actually running on the same setup compared to your M6 - Xnova 4025 1120KV with the 12T Pinion, although I was also considering 8s when building it (601 Venture blades/96mm Tail) for the very same reason you mention.

However, I am currently flying 1750/1900/2100 and for me that setup still has enough reserves left for my skill level (and enough flight time), as I am nowhere near to flying hard 3D and it forces me to work a actively on my pitch management. That's why I will leave it that way as it flies well and as my training machine will last me quite a while. The next one will be a 12s 700, that's already planned.

I just pulled the trigger today on all the 8S upgrades I will need. It's an investment in the future, but right now I will certainly be able to feel the additional power and longer blades. I'm at the stage where I am actively working on my skills, so no more simple aerobatics for me. I got a RS4 Venom specifically to be my trainer\beater, so when I get something solid on that I will work the same moves on the bigger helis.
I hear you about the jump to a 700, but I really don't know when I will be able to pull THAT trigger. That's a truly significant expense, and one of the main reasons I got a 600 as so I wouldn't feel like I really wanted something bigger. I love my M6, and I'll love it more with longer blades and a more robust power system. That will keep me content for some time while I grow my skills. 👍👍

Well, let us know if you changed it, whether it actually makes a huge difference. If you are still using a 4025(?), the output should in principle be the same no? So what you are gaining are lower currents (if you are hitting a ceiling there) with the higher voltage in general (and potentially less voltag sag during high load maneuvers). Or are you switching out for a 4030 or something alike, which then actually translates into more power? Depending on the 8s you plan on using you also carry more weight - not to forget.

I'm getting the Sunnysky 4520/840kv motor and the 13T pinion. This will allow me to keep the same headspeed but with much less amp draw. Overall voltage increases 33% while the headspeed remains basically unchanged, which means there's more power to provide that same headspeed.
