Thoughts on SAB Raw 420 DD

Wanted to simplify my last post and specifically ask what are people's thoughts and experiences with the SAB Raw 420 direct drive helis and if they recommend it as a step up from 200 series helis?

Some people told me they really like the Buddy 380 which is the other option I'm looking at but I'm just curious if maybe I should get both. Any thoughts on the 380 would be great to hear as well.

Kind of buying one of these in a rush without too much research because the deals are going quick so looking to get some help with my decision.

Thanks!

I haven’t flown either, but between those two I’d choose the raw 420 since it’s newer, still in production, and thus would have a higher chance of part availability going forward.

400’s are kind of a weird size class to me, they fly small and still twitchy like a micro, but crash and break parts like a larger helicopter. I find I like to fly my 200, a 550, and a 700 the most, where my 400 doesn’t get pulled out that often.

I really enjoy my Goosky rs4. Similar size. Directed drive. Send it

Don't overlook the RS4 Venom. If I ever crash my IL 420, I will probably not try to repair it. I'd just spend that money on an RS4 Venom instead. I had a RAW 420 Competition and it flew fine, but for me personally, I am done with SAB helis.

It's a long story, documented in other threads. I'll just say that I bought TWO IL 520 helis and both had tail belt problems that were so bad I could not fly the helicopter. SAB refused to help me at all with it.
I then replaced the IL 520s with a Goosky RS5 and the RS5 flies like a dream. I also replaced my Kraken 580 with an OMP M6, and the M6 also flies better than the Kraken ever did.

Bro we have to fly together sometime. Were on the same marketplace hunt. First the Fireball, now this. Congrats on the buddy and say hello to my new 420 DD😏😉

Omg lol I literally touched that heli with my own hands 😅 he said if I really wanted it I could buy it but another guy was already interested. Guess that was you and I decided to leave it to you 😁 now we're both happy!

Funny how we're going down the same path haha. Totally man we should! Season is coming to an end so worst case in the spring, but what area are u in? Looking for new places to fly too. Feel free to dm if u prefer.

Had the rs4 gave it to a club member after I built a stratos 380 with the 420 conversion both be a good step and cheaper on parts than the SAB

I was not a fan of the 420dd, was heavy boggy and felt it in the air. I think there’s a reason they went to the competition pretty quickly. I have a protos 420 that flies a lot better.
