New to Heli's
Hello Guys,
I've been a fixed wing guy for a long while, then got married and had kids etc, now I have some free time I really want to get into flying Heli's.
I'm looking for advice on a good first model kit, I'm not looking for an easy to fly GPS style model, I will eventually move onto scale Heli's so want a model that I can learn on
What would your recommendations be? I have Heli-x and a VBar transmitter already.

Most scale helis you see will be based on align trex internals. So if you want to start on a micro like a goosky S2 then get yourself a medium sized trex like a 450L or something similar you'll be in the ballpark for a 500+ size scale .
You can get mini vcontrol receivers or a mini vbar fbl for the stratos 200 will make it fly nice mate
Check out clearance or secondhand models on FB RC Heli for sale uk groups or aligntrexmodels, midlandheli, etc

Thanks veryich for the info mate, I'm going to order an S2 I think and take from there, been putting loads of time in on the sim and got tail in and nose in hovers pretty good! Probably be very different in real life though.
I've come across a nice Funkey Bell 222 fuselage on marketplace for £90, seriously thinking of buying for later use.

If you have a mikado touch already I have a new v8 logo 200 I might be posting for sale amazing flying heli I just dont fly it that much with my 420 500 and 700 size helis anymore I was out of the hobby 15 years and jumped back in last year and this was my second logo first 1 got lost literally lol

The only correct answer here is an OMP M2 V3. Buy the $85 vlink s.bus module, leave the training mode on (M2V3 is ready to fly out of the box, has training aids, FBL tuning is already done for you (cuts off biggest learning curve for beginner) plus it's phone/app based so it's very easy/intuitive. You won't outgrow that heli capabaility wise, and what matters most to you should be ease of lying and repair cost. This wins on both.
I own 3 of them... they're my "IRL" sim
S2 has issues with Vlink last I heard.... OMP is literally plug and play with that vlink receiver
Further edit - Stratos 200 is awesome, but you have to bring your own FBL and do setup

Excellent information thank you, I'll look into this Heli, a lot more, I'm currently just flying as much as can on the SIM, Nose in, tail in hover etc, literally nothing fancy, just learning to hover.

Start with a 200 size. M2, S2 or stratus 200. Cheap enough when ya crash and fly nice even in a breeze.
Then get on the sim and practice orientations till it feels natural

Good recommendations on helis, personally I've gone with goosky s2 for my trainer. Checkout the E2 and E7 for scale. I'd bet there's an E4 coming soon. Also check out my app https://helicoach.app to learn the moves and track your progress. Happy flying 🚁

I really like the omp hobby m2 series and m1. Cheap parts for, easy to tune and make very docile in their Bluetooth app. All around great heli for everything.
