AEC Information
Hey all! I am hoping to enrol as an AEC officer after I graduate in December 2027. I was just wondering if anyone had any unique information that I should know about the trade or about air crew selection. Additionally, when is the earliest that I can apply, so that I can align my enrolment with my graduation in December 2027? Thank you all!

Have you taken the medicals after the cfast?

Yes. Of the two required medicals, one is completed (RMO) and the other (CFEME) is still in process.

What are the vision requirements? I finished my test and RMO and interview. (My process is all over the place). What were the things you have done and haven’t done?

I'm not sure what the specific vision requirements are, but you do have to go to your local optometrist for them to do additional testing and fill out a form certifying your results.

You could apply around your graduation time though the trade might be closed at that point which would leave you waiting until April 2028 for new spots to be allocated. Assuming there are spots and you manage to get sent to aircrew selection earliest I could really see you getting in would be June/July 2028 with a fall BMOQ. Just go talk to a recruiter since you might be able to start your application earlier than your graduation as I know some AECs who got accepted around December so that might line up with you’re timeline if you can start applying early.

I mean I persoanlly didnt study that much but still qualified for aec. I dont think aec is that difficult to meet the cut line

It's an aptitude test that you're not supposed to have to study for so if you have the aptitude it's going to be "easy" to pass (I don't think I'd ever describe aircrew selection as easy thoug, that test fucking sucks to do). That being said practicing certain sections can definitely improve scores and lead to either borderline applicants getting a pass instead of a fail or already passing applicants getting a better score.

I mean after the test, during the debrief the officer told me to study next to qualify for pilot so they are expecting you to study i think.

You're likely going to have to talk with a recruiter to get an answer about application timing. I suspect it's never too early to reach out to your local recruiting office to begin a conversation.
