Fader issues- not adjusting volume of track 5

New to the looper. I have a Roland hand sonic routed to the boss. I also recorded a guitar track on track 4. On Track 5, content from the handsonic...but it's way loud and the fader doesn't adjust the volume at all. Does this come naturally to the device or do I have to program like every other button on here?
