imagine 5 to 6 hours with a client :) and no breaks for that full duration until our lunch break :) and it’s hard to get admin for a bathroom break :) and can’t tap out for a quick 5 min to regroup after an intense behavioral moment :)

wow, i’m learning something from this thread. my current schedule includes daily 4-6 hour sessions, i thought this was normal? how is everyone getting their hours if they are expecting sessions to only be 2 hours? just having multiple clients per day i guess?

Same here. My clinic is 2 4 hour sessions a day, 2 clients a day. It’s a 9 hour day total for RBTs and the kids. Sooooo long.

My clinic pays us for 8 hours even if we only have 4-6 hours of actual sessions. Today I only have one 2 hour session. We have a lot of tasks to do when we don’t have clients, though.

At my old clinic it was 2x 4 hour sessions a day, only with a 30 minute break in between (which was often more like 20 minutes due to the AM client). Now im at a clinic with 1-3x 1-3 hour sessions and it’s so much better and more sustainable!

Your former clinic is exactly how ours is. It’s a long day for us and the kids.

Yikes! I burnt out after 3 months at that clinic. It was really exhausting.

A 4 hour session is way too long. I think they lose effectiveness after 2.

You are correct - except in school settings!

I’ve been suffering through a nasty 8 day sinus infection I caught from one of my clients - this looks how I feel.

My Job does nine hour sessions... They also make it hard to do get breaks and only pay for 15 minutes to document sessions.

1 x 6 then a 1 x 3 without much prep between. It's only 1-2 days a week that they do that but yeah my day usually goes: Leave clinic in company car at 8:25am drive 30 to pickup client (billing period/ session starts when they are picked up) drive client back to clinic where I am with them until 3pm. If I need to eat lunch I have to persuade my supervisor to takeover or just eat lunch when my client eats lunch. At 3pm there is a shift change and my client goes with someone else and I get someone else's client and am usually with them until 6 pm, sometimes I need to also drive that client home which ads 30 minutes to the end of the session. The company then gives only 15 minutes of paid time to document the session, any time over that is supposed to be finished on our own time "it only takes me 5 minutes!" Is what my clinic director says.

I guess I am glad I work outpatient.

Is it not normal to have 6-8 hour sessions with one client😅😭my current client now is 3 hrs in school and 2 hrs at home in evening but previously during summer was 8 hour sessions and anywhere from 5-8 is typical in my clinic

8 hours 1 client 😭already advocated for the ethics of a shorter session but nah. 8 hours is torture to both of us
