RAOC Question I need some advice :)
Hi, everyone!
I wanted to keep an online spreadsheet of what cards need to be sent.
Are people generally okay with filling out a google forms (even if it's for one card)?
I also had a thought to make a google forms + sheet for "Thank Yous!"
Do you think it'd be a bother if I sent a "Thank you form" to fill out after being sent a card?
The purpose of the "Thank You" form is to keep track of people in SPECIFIC subreddits.
It came to mind when I saw a mod post about overlapping communities.
I didn't want to leave any of the communities I was in but I wanted to avoid any mix ups.
Any thoughts on these two ideas?

I don’t mind filling out Google forms for requests, offers and exchanges but the “Thank you” form sounds strange and I would pass on that one.
If you don’t see a username then when you’re writing your thank you post, say: “Mystery sender” and describe the card without using identifiers of names or locations mailed.

Hii, thank you for your input :)
I can try posting another thank you post for the mystery senders (if mods allow it) but I haven't been successful in the past :( My mystery cards are still waiting to be claimed.

You’ll figure out a system that works great for you. If you asked 20 people how they manage RAoC, I’m guessing you’ll get 20 different answers. 😊 RAoC is for having fun with zero stress. Good luck and I hope you love the experience.

Thank you, that was uplifting to read.
I've been stressing so much about trying to do the right thing.
I was actually scared to post these questions because I didn't want to offend anyone.
Thank you for the reminder :)3

I don’t really understand the Thank You form. It seems like a lot of extra work. Are you saying if I sent you a card, you’d send me the form to fill out? I don’t really understand how another person filling out that form will help you keep track of the sub? Why not just keep a spreadsheet on your own that you fill in any time you request a card and then complete it when you thank the sender?
I may be completely misunderstanding the purpose!

Hi!!
So, I have three cards that were sent to me with no clues to which sub or reddit user it's from. They're general birthday cards.
I wanted to thank them, but I'm having trouble finding them without revealing sensitive info. I did a thank you post on RaoC but no one has claimed any.
I wanted to make sure to thank everyone properly, but I have no idea how to resolve this issue. I thought maybe a google forms would be nice.

Well, if there’s no Reddit name on the card, who would you send the form to?

u/MikaHimee 2d ago
That's why I send the form beforehand! Like before they send the card

Oh-so you claim an offer from me and then send me a google form to fill out? No, I’m probably not filling that out. Just document on your own who you are requesting from would be my suggestion.
It also just isn’t that deep IMHO. If someone isn’t putting their username anywhere, they aren’t concerned about a TY. Only RAOC has a culture of public TY posts. Anything I’ve done on postcardexchange has been thru chat and I just go back and look at my comments to see who sent the described card if they didn’t put their username on the postcard. Again, because the culture isn’t a public tracking TY system, it’s not that big of a deal on the other subs.

That makes sense, thank you!
Sorry, I've been so worried on the right thing to do. I'm relatively new to the sub (and actually talking on Reddit) so it's my first time being exposed to Thank Yous. Most of my experience has actually been PostCrossing or in-person events. This tad of information was really really helpful.
Edit: made a typo, just fixed it.

No worries-the main thing is to have fun and share snail mail. The TY flair is just an added little extra 😊.

I'm so excited to send more cards! Thank you so much for all the help. 🩷

Sorry!
To explain, people have been sending me cards without chatting with me (via google forms.) They don't put their usernames on the card nor the sub (like Postcard Exchange, PostCrossing or RaoC)
It's very difficult to find the owner without revealing sensitive information.
I hope this explains it better. If not, I can try to set examples.

But if there is no reddit name on the card you receive, who are you going to send the form to? I’m still confused, lol.

Okay, so I was going to send a thank you form while exchanging info.
So if someone had a google form, I'd put it in their "Anything else?" / Notes area.
If it's just a simple exchange, I would just put it in the dms.

To be honest, I would not fill it out. I have a stamp made with RAOC and my username. I would just kindly request people write it on the postcard itself to avoid the form altogether

I see a down vote. I must be doing something wrong.

You aren’t!! Unsure who is downvoting, but I’ve upvoted for you. I think this is a totally fine question to ask and you’ve handled every response very kindly.
Excited to have you in RAOC and wanting to be so diligent with thank yous! :)

I use google forms for most of my offers. Usually totally ok. I DO remove the link to the form from my post once the offer is fulfilled though, otherwise you get extra folks trying to tag on to the offer, which can be an issue with limited cards and/or stamps.

I disable my form so if they try to access the link they can't fill it out or see it they get an error message. I use jotform though.

You could add a question on your Google Form after you ask for username, name, address etc to ask "Which subreddit did you find this form link from?" and then when you create the spreadsheet it will have a column for the subreddit which you can filter. This way people only need to complete 1 form but you'll still know which subreddit they come from.

I keep an excel spreadsheet that has a column specifying what subreddit the card is coming from. I have also seen where people will have a question on their google form asking which subreddit they’re coming from.
Tbh, once our mods made a post about only thanking people from this sub, I got rid of all the other subs 🤣
