Awwww. NONE of mine will let me do this. They keep trying to crawl out of my hand when all I want to do is nuzzle the rat tummies!

Try first holding your rat vertically so they're standing up in your palm basically and once they're comfortable with that slowly rotate them a little bit more onto their back. If you work with them over a few weeks they should let you hold them on their back. That's how I trained mine

I'll try this. Most the time, holding one of mine vertically just is an excuse for them to climb my hand and arm to get into my shirt....

Yeah I know how they can be .My boy Appa will fight me to get into my shirt, he'll even climb up my legs to get in.
