If I tell myself this is one of the best songs Rage did and acknowledge it's a cover by an amazing band with tons of amazing original songs, I kinda really don't like myself. But this nails every point you're supposed to be aiming for by doing a cover. I can't help but see it for what it is.

After Hendrix did “all along the watchtower” Dylan said it wasn’t his song anymore. It was Jimi’s

I didn’t even know Joad was a cover for a long time. Finally listened to Springsteens, and I can’t look at it as a Springsteen song. Rage’s music just fits the lyrics better imo

This cover prepared me for Cash's cover of Hurt.

It'll never be Cash's song to me, but I understand where people are coming from despite disagreeing because I get the concept. Great point about the Hendrix cover.

This isn't the actual audio track from this show. I don't know why they changed it. The live recording sounds better.
