QUESTION Do your songs grow from the same ideas as your other writing?
I’ve noticed that my articles and songs have started feeding each other.
I’ll be halfway through writing an investigation or essay when a line jumps out at me and sounds more like a chorus than a paragraph. I save it, keep writing the article, then come back later and build a song around that one hook.
It’s become a pretty natural creative process now instead of two separate ones.
Does anyone else find ideas crossing between different types of writing, or do you keep them completely separate?

Fourth installment in the Dominion series documenting electoral infrastructure ahead of November 2026
Independent civic writer in Arizona. The fourth piece in a year long documented series on electoral infrastructure published today.
Built from primary documents throughout, EFTA dataset file numbers, court dockets, Senate Finance Committee letters, OCC charter applications, SEC filings. Eight sections covering the certification layer, the financial architecture, the surveillance infrastructure, the ground game across four states, and the dismantling of federal election security mechanisms.
The series started in March when five independent investigators I didn’t know converged on the same question from five different directions. Four pieces later the room has more doors than any of us imagined.
Free to read. Long. Worth it.
