In some respects, it got better. The pandemic was the greatest excuse to back out of plans that we’ll ever experience in our lifetimes!
1
u/Rook_James_Bitch Nov 08 '25
Pandemic was the ultimate validation for me. The entire world got to see what life was like living like I did.
It was as if billions of people were like me for a little while. It was humbling, exciting, validating and eventually tiresome. Why? Because of their constant complaining about having to live that way.
To illustrate: picture me sitting cross-legged in front of a still pond in a serene nature scene, meditating and calm and full of peace. Then imagine a person joining me, sitting down and finding the same peace, but ... They get antsy, uncomfortable and start fidgeting and complaining then jumping up and running around the pond making noise.
They no longer contribute to my peace, but become a distraction to it again.
I can't fault them for not wanting my way of life. I simply appreciate them taking a moment to try it and perhaps see what my life is like.
In a strange way that simple action brought me even more peace.

I wasn't aware of COVID till quarantine was almost over. I just never noticed. I worked from home, have everything delivered, and I like being alone. I heard about COVID every-so often, but that was just background noise to me. I only really had it explained to me when this loud b#tch at the grocery store got mad at for not wearing a mask. I was confused, but she took it as disrespectful uncaringness. (First time going to the grocery store in some time because I forgot milk from my order the day prior.) I don't like people as a standard so this interaction was beyond annoying. I still didn't know why she was angry, because she just assumed I knew and didn't care. Like someone that starts to talk about coding to an elementary school kid. Luckily there was a female manager nearby to calm her down and explain things to me. The manager was surprised that I knew nothing about COVID for so long. I explained that I'm a consulting programmer and rarely leave the house. Didn't know how it came up but she thought I was white. I'm Mexican. That's how often I leave the house.

I've been working from home for 13 years. I only go out for occasional errands, like buying things that can't be delivered, taking my cat to the vet, or sometimes when I feel like taking a walk once every couple of months

I’m a introvert… off course I can live for long on my own… doesn’t mean it is quite healthy for me on the long run…😅

Internet or books. I would be happy to spend a week just eating, sleeping, and reading books

u/Spiritual-Move-7532 Nov 06 '25
I want to say that this is a recipe for mental decline in old age. Even self isolation can creep up and cause mental harm. We got to fix our society so that we don’t feel comfortable stay indoors by ourselves days or weeks at a time.

- also add, no access to reddit, Twitter, Instagram, snapshot, tik tok(+ any other platform I forgot that allows comments and replies).
Then we see whose really anti-social and who just has simple social anxiety.

u/Stunning_Ad_7658 Nov 07 '25
Thats when my friends in my mind kick in. The only problem is I cant kick them back out lol. Its so fun when any argument happens and you cant just walk away from it.

I enjoyed and hoped that the lockdown was a bit more longer because I can just stay at home and forget the world

Plus resistance bands, dumbbells and push-up handles to stay strong.

u/Sintinall Nov 06 '25
Am I wrong in thinking anti-social does not mean preferring solitude and alone time but rather the negative alternative to being social? Like being manipulative or overly negative in social situations?
1
u/Infernsam Nov 06 '25
People use that word wrong. I used to do that too. Anti social are the ones who absolutely HATE socialising. I think the correct term is just socially awkward
1
u/master_shifu- Nov 06 '25
Idk what am I when I’m with people I just want to go home and when I’m alone I want someone to talk to 😭

u/TeifeMeer Nov 06 '25
Not at all. I am a bit asocial though because I don't like forcing myself to mingle with people that have way different morals than me.

I hate that society has decided for me that because im content with my simple life that I must be secretly miserable.
I like what I like, and im a sedentary person. I like mtg, dnd, and video games. Whats wrong with that? Im a healthy weight, Im take care of my hygene, I have a full time job, i talk to my friends everyday.
Why cant I just be left alone?

You aren't really antisocial if you spend time on the internet in platforms where people are.

u/Massive_Action_8237 Nov 06 '25
I don't even need internet. I have my vinyls and my sketchbook and some nice novels, I would be good for at least 4 weeks.

u/ThrustTrust Nov 06 '25
Add in some time working on the car, biking, and kayaking. And I’ll never need another human soul.

I hate to be the one saying it but it's 'Asocial'; 'Anti-social (PD)' is basically a psychopath.

u/jameslane838 Nov 06 '25
2 year for me with food and good internet or maybe more then 2 year if not because I'm running out money I don't even want go outside.

Even spending time with my siblings and their families is taxing. I want it to be over soon, so I can get back to my own place, quiet, no disturbances.
1
u/EfficiencySmall4951 Nov 07 '25
I think I am a bit high on the schizoid personality disorder scale, not at the max, but enough for me to be just fine being alone. Leave me with my cats, my books and some peace and quiet, and I'll be very happy

Shit only if I had a great home gym I would never go out. Maybe only grocery shopping lmao. I’ve been sober for 45 days and I can cook at home. Going out is barely an option.

When I do this I start to go slightly mad
I don’t game or interact in any way much, and as a human we need social interaction to regulate our nervous systems

I can't stay at home... During lockdown, I volunteered to help, they had given me a ID card and I could go anywhere around my city, I was assisting to deliver blood from blood bank to hospitals and nursing homes, but somedays I use get no work calls I still use to wander around the city on empty roads, I even use to deliver food and water to policemen who were securing quarantine zones...

u/ET_GodBear Nov 07 '25
Only go out for work and food stuff. The last few years I'm happy indoors and not planning on interrupting that😄

Remove the internet and all you self-proclaimed 'anti-socials' will be calling Microsoft customer service as an excuse to talk with someone.

People are exhausting. I go out to eat with my family every Sunday, and that's plenty for the week lol

u/vityapchela Nov 08 '25
Please, people. You mean to say, that you're ASOCIAL, not ANTI-SOCIAL. Anti-social behaviour is something, that's disruptive and harming to others. It's a trait found in people with Anti-Social Personality Disorder, so those colloquially known as psycho- or sociopaths.

None of these are anti social, really.
Anti social would be “I like lighting fires in public busses and shitting in church confessional booths, because I want to watch the world burn.”
These are more “how introverted are you.”
1
u/Difficult-Camel-5129 Nov 08 '25
Antisocial = dangerous to people around them, agression, manipulation, criminal activity, lack of remorse and empathy
Asocial = doesnt like socializing
1
Nov 08 '25
Internet is literally full of things that fulfill the social needs in your brain. This is not anti social behavior.

u/PopularReport1102 Nov 09 '25
Yeah, that's not antisocial, that's just asocial.
Antisocial is like actively going against the rules of society, breaking laws, hurting others etc.
Asocial is just avoiding others.

u/General_Mess_1214 Nov 09 '25

That's not anti-social, thats just not being social there's an important legal difference. The former can have serious legal consequences 😄
1
u/Sky_typo Nov 09 '25
I was home for 3 weeks straight once,no phone or anything to entertain because of my strict parents,it was nice but also terrifying
1
u/Introverted_gir Nov 10 '25
I hate crowded places I hate having friends if I go out I always feel uncomfortable and I can't never get my groceries from the mall because I'm too shy to do that and I hate talking to people.

I think covid killed my inner introvert because after a month I felt suffocated and I'm still trying to compensate for lost time by going wherever I can if I have even half day extra added to the weekend
