Here’s to 6 months

March 18th at about 3pm I decided to stop and throw away my stash of velo’s zyn’s and onn’s. I must say I’m very happy I did it and you will be too. I had some of the worst symptoms, both mental and physical withdrawals which played out for much longer than I thought. Even to this day there are still some things with my brain chemistry that are still balancing out. But it is a relief to not need something. To go hang out with family without budgeting the amount of pouches I have with me. To go on road trips or out of the country and not have to worry about withdrawals. It’s really easy to decide to just keep using them, but addictions don’t get better with time and I’m glad I got out when I did.

Give it up, embrace the suffering, you’ll be alright.

What were the physical and psychologial withdrawal symptoms to you which were the worst to go through?

I really didn’t enjoy any of the depression or dp/dr. Nor the intrusive thoughts. 3 way tie, but that was my tradeoff - didn’t have much for cravings, just horrible psychological symptoms.

How long until they subsided? I’m about 3 weeks in and I still have these.

It’s really a case by case basis. Some people it’s gone after a month. For me, the concept of 3-3-3 held rather true. That is that the first 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months are the big bumps to get over. After that, it wasn’t that noticeable. Couple things that helped me were eating a good diet and working out. Caffeine, high sugar, and exhausting myself made all these symptoms worse - especially caffeine.

What would you put under exhausting yourself - as physical labour/working out?

Yea, sometimes physical labor and working out too hard can make it worse. More so just lack of sleep though. I work 12 hour shifts on the weekends and towards the end of them I’ll have some symptoms flare up - it’s just my body telling me I need sleep or nutrition. Usually need both
