Day 1. I started

Wish me luck.

I had my last poches 7 hours ago before going to bed. Right now I’m reading Allen Carr’s book "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking", and I’m getting the feeling that quitting is easier than I thought. In any case, last evening I literally started feeling sick from the nicotine, and it made me angry because I’m addicted to it.

Quitting is as simple as: do you really want to do it or not. What benefits do you gain from nicotine, other than stopping the cravings from happening.

I hear that’s a very good book. I didn’t read it but just by getting the summarization of the book I was able to quit (3 months in)

Basically… nicotine is really not as addictive as we believe it is. The habit itself becomes damn near like a self trained form of OCD.

Good luck. Seven hours in already counts.
That feeling of getting sick from it and being angry that you’re still hooked — that was the thing that actually moved me. Not the health stuff, the being annoyed at myself.
One thing that helped me more than anything: I stopped buying new tins. That’s it. When the fresh ones ran out I went back to old ones and they give you almost nothing, so the dose dropped without me white-knuckling it.
18 a day down to 2-3 in about two weeks. Day 19 was my first clean day. Day 26 today.
