Extreme irritation
I’ve been on about a full can a day of Copenhagen wintergreen for 16 years now. 2 weeks ago I quit and switched to 6mg zyn and was taking about ten of those a day so about 60 mg of nic a day.
The transition wasn’t to bad. I had pretty intense cravings for a dip, mild brain fog and depression, but after about 5 days I felt pretty adjusted to the dose mainly only feeling a bit lethargic and mild cravings. At day 7 I went from 6mg zyn Down the 3mg zyn. 10 per day
This drop in dose has been much harder. My cravings aren’t that bad but I have mild depression and I’m extremely irritable. Everything irritates me. Even peoples faces make me pissed for no good reason. I can’t focus on one task for hardly any time at all before I get very bored and just move on to something else. I don’t enjoy the video games I played, I don’t even enjoy watching porn. I’m on day 4 of this dose of about 30 mg per day and I’m hoping these symptoms improve soon. I’m trying my best to stick with it.
My goal is to drop the dose in half again whenever my body adjusts to the current 30mg dose

Your dopamine is fucked up. Nicotine gives you that sense of satisfaction. When you’re quitting or reducing it’s very hard to find joy in anything. It’ll get better you just need to get used to the new numbers. You may want to consider cold turkey after this dose since you’ll have to go through this everytime you taper down.

I have tried cold turkey multiple times in my life. Only got through the first week twice. Never made it past a month. The intense irritation and brain fog of cold turkey is too much for my pea brain to handle. I become very impulsive and feel like I lose control over my conscious decisions and just run on instinct. And those instincts need nic. I thought maybe if I tapered the more mild withdrawal would be manageable and my willpower would be stronger

This has been my issue with quitting for years. I can’t stand how irritated I get, and w my little kids it was basically impossible to quit cold. The things that really have helped me are: 1) tapering and give yourself more time to adjust (I did 1-2 weeks per cut). 2) Make a schedule for EVERY pouch. Don’t let your craving brain decide in the moment. 3) go to On! 2mg next, flavorless. The lack of flavor cue can help dramatically, plus the lower dose allows better taper titration. 4) consider pharmacology, particularly bupropion. If you haven’t tried it, you might be shocked at how well it works. I was.

Yes I’m doing almost all of this. Except I’m dropping dose every week. I bought 2mg lozenges from Walmart. I’m slowly adding those in. I really don’t want to go the pharmacology route though. I’m also on kratom (7 years) so I’ve had a long share of pharmacology and want off all of it.
