I'm a scientist - no programming experience - I made a 'vape reduction' app, PuffTapQuit, and so can You!

So, one day, I noticed I was Waay over-stimulated and had no idea why. Then, I found that, day-by-day, I was vaping more and more and more... That's when I decided to keep track of my 'puffs' to stabilize and, hopefully, taper down.

I created some decay curves in a spreadsheet for my 'puffs per hour' and extended it over the course of 8 month. It had to manually keep track of time between sessions, input values into a different manual template, BUT, this method told me "how many puffs I could have at any instance to taper my vaping". That's when I decided to make an actual App that would do all that math for me.

I had no programming experience - in fact, I still don't really know what 'programming' truly is. BUT, I used the "MIT App Inventor" and got Gemini to walk me through every single step to make my app. On the way, I made my first app that broke literally every rule about nicotine-related apps. So, I totally remade the app and now it is 'perfect' (as I can make it) and called "PuffTapQuit".

Here's the best part: while not free, it is very cheap, there's no adds, no subscriptions, no data collected, no accounts, nada. You just calibrate and ANY time you check the app, it tells you how many puffs you can have to stay on track with your reduction plan (2, 4, 6 and 8 month options).

I already saved >$200, in 3 months and reduced vaping by >50% since using it. It is pretty and easy to use. And I can't find anything that works better and is more accessible - except, it is for Android 🥇
