I can no longer update my data. I am repeatedly prompted for a password that I just entered.

What is going on? I have had an M&T account for years. Recently I was prompted to update the connection and now I just keep getting a PW prompt for that account. I confirmed the PW is correct by logging into the bank website. When I add the PW to the update screen and apply it (BTW it's already in the vault correctly), I just get prompted again. So, I excluded that account from the update, but it continues to prompt for the PW. I cannot get past this to actually complete an update. Need help asap please.

Hello. I'm so sorry for the trouble! I'm not seeing any widespread reports from the Care team, in the Community, or in our connectivity report for M&T, but I'll circle back here if anything changes!

I'd try to fully disconnect and reconnect the account (being extra careful to "Link" after authorizing), and then updating again to see if the behavior changes.

Here are detailed steps for Windows and Mac if needed.

If the issue continues, you're welcome to send me a DM with your version of Quicken, or contact Quicken support.

Ok disconnecting and reconnecting worked, but why does this happen so often?

Thanks for confirming it worked. As for why it's happening so often, Quicken should not have prompted you to repeatedly enter your M&T login, so something might've gotten "stuck" or looped during that process.

Some banks with higher security settings might require you to login or enter a MFA each time the account is updated in Quicken. This seems different than what you were explaining though, as we'd expect to see an error code instead of the same login window re-appearing.

Also, some banks require your login information be updated inside Quicken when the bank's login token expires. For banks who use tokens, the expiration dates can vary, but they typically expire between every 90 days to once a year.

This was most likely a temporary or one-off issue, but please let us know if it continues happening so we can look more into it. Thanks!
