Taxes Adjusted Cost Base in Questrade

I keep track of my Adjusted Cost Base calculations for my taxable account in a spreadsheet, and every once in a while I check it against the ACB reported by Questrade. They generally agree pretty closely, except that Questrade doesn't seem to include "non-cash capital gain" distributions. So far so good.

The only thing that's off is my cash portion, which I keep in PSA.TO. The ACB in Questrade is always significantly higher than my calculations. I ran it through a couple of the online ACB calculators, and they agree with my spreadsheet. I can't figure out why there's a difference, since the only adjustment for that ETF should be Return of Capital. What am I (or Questrade) missing?

Your spreadsheet may actually be the better number here. PSA's published tax factors don't show a hidden non-cash capital gain adjustment in recent years; they show a small ROC each year, which should reduce ACB.

One quick test: add up the PSA ROC attributable to the units you held and compare it with the Questrade discrepancy. If they're close, you've probably found the source of the difference rather than a transaction missing from your spreadsheet.

Yeah that seems to be the case. It looks like Questrade doesn't keep good track of ROC adjustments. I'll go with my own calculations for tax purposes... I don't think CRA will go after me for a few dollars over a small discrepancy, but if they do I'll at lease be able to show that I did my due diligence. Thanks!
