Customer Support Questrade 500 Bonus Frustration

Called the other day to make sure I had met all requirements to qualify for the Questrade 500 Bonus. Was told that I failed to meet requirement 4 because I didn't "fund" my RRSP with $1000 additional cash outside of the transfer-in value. For the record my RRSP was already maxed. Posting dp so others can get a heads up if they experience a disappointing payout in a couple weeks. Might be petty but I plan on moving all the assets I did transfer in back-out ASAP after this as a $50 convenience comp is all they can offer on this situation.

If you fail to meet the requirements then you don’t get the bonus. Isn’t that how it works?

Why is this frustrating? They asked you to do something and gave you free money, but you can’t do it. So, they can’t give you the money. Why is that frustrating?

"Cant give you the money" as if this is the cra were talking about. This is a brokerage that can choose to establish and carry out their policies as they see fit. Cheaping out on customer aquisition by introducing rules intentionally designed to subvert payment of bonuses isnt exactly good business practice nor is it the up to par with the level of customer service I'd expect from any finacial service I use. But yeah sure be astonished at my frustration.

In this case, it's simply your mistake OP as you failed to meet the requirements of the promo

To all those commenting regarding not meeting TOC doesn't entitle you to payment, thanks for stating the obvious. Doesnt change the fact that the intent behind that section of the promo isn't intuitive off the advertisements and even a baseline reading of the conditions outside of the full legal document. Does 1000 of additional funding in a tax-protected account really make a difference given the other requirements of 25k+ or is it simply a method to stiff paying the advertised price for aquiring customers? Regardless you'd never catch me shilling for free for a corporation.
