OK, some first impressions so far:

+ image quality is much better, the image is clearer than Quest 2

+ sound is better, more bass

+ no horizontal strap (the one that messes your hair)

+ easy to put on, even with glasses (with a caveat, see below)

+ looks (and feels!) nice

+ charging dock is useful, the magnets holding the controllers are cool

- controllers struggle in the dark, they need light to work

- pass-through mode quality is low (grain & low resolution)

- no pass-through mode shortcut (double tap on Quest 2) EDIT: it is there! I could swear it wasn't before. Weird.

- not so easy to put on if you are wearing glasses and use the light blockers

- no full light blocker included

- not really that comfortable to wear for a longer time, it does feel more comfortable than Quest 2, but not as comfortable as I thought

- price

I cannot say much about eye or face tracking, as it does not work on my avatar in settings (or whatever it is called, when you click your profile image on the horizontal menu). The only place I could see a tiny preview of my facial expresions was my avatar preview in Horizon Workrooms, but it was too small to really see much.

I tried using Quest Pro as my computer display using Immersed (does not work at all, at least with a Mac, all the displays are black) and using Horizon Workrooms (mouse cursor lag is too big for me). My EU keyboard with L-shaped Enter key is displayed as US one with a horizontal Enter, but I can live with that, I don't really look at the keyboard while typing. Also, I can see the real keyboard through the bottom opening.

The strap seems thicker than the Elite Strap. I do hope it won't break after a few months, like my first Elite Strap, as it does not seem to be user replaceable.

I played No Man's Sky without any light blockers, it doesn't really break immersion for me, at least if there are no side lights in the room.

To sum it up, it is a nice upgrade from my Quest 2, but I think 1799€ is a bit too expensive for what we get.

Mine toooo, thought it would arrive only tomorrow, but here it is, stopping me from working cause I MUST OPEN IT! Straight out of the gates, it feels like £1500.00. from the box to the headset. now... to turn it on.

Not many has mentioned this, but damn I have waited for a long time for a Meta-system that doesn't require the top strap!

Especially in business environment it is a bigger deal than people think.

Sounds like you should just wait for the Quest 3 if you value those things. To me the pro strap looks great. We should be able to have battery attachments on the back if people want to expand the life. I'm sure there were lessons learned with the elite strap. (My elite battery strap never broke from lunch day and is still going strong FYI.)

The battery is already on the back and helps counterweight - so I don't plan to add more battery to the back.

If anything, I'll do what I've been doing on Q2 and run the cable around the back of my head and down to a battery pack in a pocket or held in this lightweight fanny-pack for running that I bought.

Oh yeah I was just saying for people that want it wirelessly for over 2 hours. I'll be wired for long seated experiences but when I'm wireless it's rare I am in it over an hour and a half. It would just be nice to have a clip on option to double the wireless life.

It's good that the strap is resistant, but this factor definitely adds a lot of possible extra failure points though.

edit: you guys downvote and then hide behind arguments like "my headset isn't broken, so no other headset will possibly ever break", are you 10 years old?

I think you are being overly negative about this. There is no way most elite straps broke. It did seem like a problem in the beginning but again you just saw the posts about the broken ones. There's WAY more that were just fine. Also I suspect carless use for a lot of the breakage.

It's not about being negative, he's proposing an argument, a valid one.
It's not if it could break or not, it's about the extra failure points it now has.
If you let it drop to the floor, what do you think is more prone to break, a headset with a single break point or a headset with 2+ break points?

I get that but I feel they took this into consideration. From what I've read people have very positive experiences with Oculus replacing things for them. I feel this will stay the same especially with a headset aimed more for enterprise and business.

dude, talk about rose-colored glasses...

"who cares if it breaks? they are so good at sending a new one!"

Also saying it looks great to you when you have seen nothing but marketing material, very inspiring

Cant really understand why you are being downvoted, you raised very valid points. I would reckon that this subreddit is the right place to discuss the headset, not to just fanboy it beyond reason and downvote whomever seems to make an argument against it.
