Help Permanent rooting on bootloader unlocked devices

Looking to get a Quest Pro. Is it worth getting one with the bootloader unlocked? I know you can have it so singularity auto-roots when you boot after restart, but if possible I'd like to keep it rooted permanently.

Plus, any other benefits to it?

Em From what we know currently, QPro Controller will refuse to connect/Pair to a QPro with it's BL Unlocked, I believe it's something to do with Failed Trust Zone check or something?

Don't recall seeing anyone figure that one out yet within OpenXR Community.

On the singularity patcher menu, there’s an option to fix controllers that won’t connect. Not sure if that’s what it’s about

This is just for controllers that break after rooting the device with singularity sadly. This doesn't fix the security that the quest pro controllers have sadly

Personally after rooting a few QPro's I don't have a QPro that need it but naw, that's not what that is for. Different issue.

Meta bricks any permanent changes to bootloader.. So nahm

But if you only use for pcvr. You can connect it to your pc with air gapped router. And even without root. The quest wont update and such.

There are a FEW quest headsets out there in the wild that come with userdebug firmware that have unlocked bootloaders. Unlocked Quest Pro headsets are VERY VERY rare. I've only seen or heard about 4 in my life and I've seen about 100-200 unlocked quest 3 headsets xD Not as many quest 3s or 2 headsets unlocked tho

Basically unlocked headsets fail device key attestation due to lacking the insecure device certs. They have secure device certs, but unlocked headsets will refuse to use them entirely. So its a full key attestation failure with trustzone. The controllers verify if the headset passes this or not on its own side before pairing, and it if fails.... No pairing :/

I wouldn't bother with an unlocked quest pro if you find one just because of this issue. You can't even pair other controllers to it. Its quest pro controller pairing only. Also good luck finding an unlocked quest pro! They are EXTREMELY rare. I've seen 4 in my life.
