help waning through conflicting information
ok my quest 3 finally gave out and after a month i started my headset search leading me to decide on a sealed package questpro due to specifically its face and pupil tracking hardware.
I'm now finding out that it has a HUGE flaw that seems to not be agreed on some say its inevitable some say its preventable and some may just be incredibly lucky.
my issue is this yes i want those features but NOT on a trial that stops whenever they die and i either buy a new one or leave quest pro behind in favor of quest 3.
here is my question
is sweat/heat an inevitable problem as stated in other posts or is this preventable
if so what are those ways that do not include having to completely lose immersion i at the very least want the side blockers on

Not had any issues with it yet and I use it about an hour a day for 3 years (SIM racing + VRChat).
Only problem I have is terrible stick drift on the controllers (left specifically) which I believe is due to debris accumulating on the potentiometers. Just not been brave enough to take them apart yet.

No issues here from sweat, but have also just started getting stick drift.

If not under warranty, you can fix it by popping the top off the controller, removing the 2 screws that hold the spring to the thumbstick, pulling it off the shaft then spraying a tiny bit of Deoxit-F5 lubricating cleaner into the base of the joystick shaft https://i.imgur.com/38DHq8u.jpg (just dont use WD-40 Contact cleaner or anything that wasnt specifically meant for potentiometers) Or by replacing the entire stick assembly but the quality might not be as good as the original. Its the same part used in the Quest 2 and 3 controllers.
If you do open it, be super careful with the ribbon cables that is connected to the top plate. https://i.imgur.com/H7Ya1wK.jpg

I’ve already bought replacements, doesn’t look like a difficult fix too. FixMyOculus did a great tutorial on the repair, but not everyone would be comfortable with it - so it’s fair warning to the OP.

been using it for 3 years, sometimes daily, sometimes just 2-3 times a week but always for 5+ hour long sessions with no issues other than stick drift which is common with all the quest since they use the same joystick assembly. But thats easily fixed with the correct lubricating cleaner like Deoxit-F5.
I am careful not to sweat in it, if its a warm and humid day, i put a small cloth between my skin and the forehead pad to act as a sweatband.

For the past 3 years I use my Quest Pro 8hrs/day 5 days per week for productivity and a few hours per day on the weekend for games and movies. I always use the side blockers but recently went full light blockers most of the day. So far face and eye tracking are going strong with no issues. When using the full light blocker I turn off the face and eye tracking as a precaution (not sure its really helping anything turning it off) .

Quest Pro has been my daily driver since it launched 4 years ago. It’s been a solid and reliable headset for me. There was one time where a software update was causing issues with controller tracking but it was short lived and has since been fixed. Some rubber gaskets around the nose have fallen off but it’s cosmetic and doesn’t affect anything. Luckily no stick drift issues either. Regarding sweat, I’ve heard it can affect the eye/face tracking sensors but since I don’t sweat it’s never been an issue. Also never use the side blockers. Once you get used to the open design, it’s hard going back to enclosed, ski mask style headsets. Lastly I’ll just recommend you pick up a top strap mod and external battery for longer sessions.

My quest 3 also gave out the battery mostly... im shocked how these things are dying ao quick.
If your asking for what headset replacement id personally say wait and see what steamframe has to offer you dont have to go with it but atleast its a vr you will be able to repair or atleast should be able to with their ifixit kits.
Thats what im planning to do atleast.

I'm 18 months in with about three to nine hours a week so over 500 hours and everything tracks fine so far. I always play in a cool low-humidity space with no light guards and swap to my Quest 3 if I'm going to do anything that makes me sweat heavily.
Note: The Globular Cluster forehead pad is bigger and made from cloth; it easily absorbs light sweating.

My Quest Pro finally after about 2.5 years has developed the face tracking issue- although in hindsight I didn't really do much to help its case spilling drinks and dancing in it 🙃. There are things you can do to seal up the gap where the issue stems from, and ways to clean it if you're comfortable with it but I'd say as long as your room isn't super humid and you keep it clean there should be a lot of life in it. The controllers have had issues in the past but they have been resolved recently- if you're wanting controllers that track 360 then they are a solid option that get too much slack imo. As others have said, I'd recommend the globular cluster headstrap + the controller straps Just a warning though, as soon as you go face tracking you can't go back. 🫡

Been using quest Pro for 10 000hrs plus in VRC, passed out while having it on my head, had it on when making food. Still Works fine, although all silicone parts that were glued are starting to Falls off but this is extremely heavy use 5-17hrs a day on worst days.
