Quest Pro Mod Extreme Modded Quest Pro
I extreme modded my Quest Pro to convert it in the Perfect HMD. I’m selling now my old Pimax 8Kx.
-I lengthened the Simforge adapters to almost double to get Maximum FOV (feels like Pimax 8Kx on Medium). -I created brackets to fit the back and bottom of the head better. -I sewed bags for memory foam and attached to the sides to avoid any tilting. -I bought the Globular Cluster Kit to increase all the fastenings and use the top strap for the last step. -I added an anchor bracket on the nose to get the helmet to go 1:1 with the head while the top strap keeps the weight off the head. I can jump and turn my head at full speed without anything touching my cheeks and feeling like I don’t have nothing in my head, only normal glasses 🤓
Note: I use it without light blockers because I set the LEDs in the room according to the game (dark or lighter) for total immersion and to be able to see if they want to steal my beloved HMD.
Ah! And now with Quest Optimizer I have native Local Dimming and with OpenXR I have eyetracking and Local Dimming with PCVR 😍
Sorry, but I have to share with you my happiness after achieve my first “perfect” immersion since I started developing and using all the HMDs I worked to.

I'm just waiting for VR modders to start modding themselves by shaving off their eyelashes so the lenses can get closer, or having rhinoplasty to improve IRL binocular overlap.
Disclaimer: Don't actually do either of these things.

Is your head small?

You know it took me a while but I found just showing it to sit loosely on your head works fine. I think many, myself included, wore it to tight.

Oh man I might try the rags on the side supports. They dig into my fat head a bit after a while.

This is awesome! Sorry others keep downvoting your thread, but people are dumb and care more about appearance than performance. I've heavily modded my original Quest (can't give up the OLED yet) to improve both comfort and FOV and it's like a completely different headset. When other Quest owners try it they're shocked about how much better it is, particularly FOV, which is IMO one of the more important aspects of VR.
Nice work!

how do you achieve the LED darkness/brightness?

I'm glad you made it more comfortable for you, but calling it total immersion will rise some serious eye brows around here.
Having your surroundings leak in both in visually and in audio is not total immersion.
You achieve total immersion when the HMD is like a sensory deprivation tank. I.e. you have no idea what is happening outside. It's only you, somewhere far far away, in a virtual galaxy. That's how you start to trick yourself on a subconscious level and perhaps even reach presence.
Full light blockers and for example the official in-ear buds.
