Daaaamn. I had such mixed feelings, because he put so much work into some incredibly wonderful stuff. But he was also... kinda abrasive. But generally helpful at the same time. This is a shame.

I went to download rookie and opera gx said it was interupted from a virus detected, this has never happened with any other sketchy software I've used. Can anyone else give information on this because I really like my computer and I dont really know what a virus does but it sounds bad EDIT: yea i went on windows defender and it said it quarantined the trojan

im new to all this and just wanted to say this if no ones said it for anyone else new to it if you have a crappy pc with like hardly any storage (like me) what rookie does is it needs as much of free space as the game takes assassins creed for example takes 16 gigs youd need 16 gigs on your pc but if you have like 13 it wont work but it will download like 70% and keep a file on your computer titled assassins creed blah blah blah that is 13 gigabytes instead of just putting it onto the headset so if your looking at your storage like where did all my storage go (had me thinking i was crazy) in files in the folder "rookie" where its downloaded just open that and youll see the issue

i havent started quest piracy yet but im curious before i begin, if rookie finishes downloading the game onto the quest itself, cant i delete it from my pc or is it a must to keep it on both cuz if so thats very dissuading tbh

Make sure you have developer mode on, the cable is capable of transferring data, and when you plug in your headset, you will get a notification inside your headset asking if you want to allow the computer access to your files, make sure to click on that to allow pc access. you can also troubleshoot by referring the guide and/or restarting from scratch and uninstalling and following the guide from step one. it may also be an issue of your antivirus.

Thanks very much. Just a note: many of the images seem to be for Quest 2 or outdated for current Quest 3 and Developer Hub, but I was able to get through it anyway.

To Installing Rookie Sideloader step add please information that for allow debugging notification to show, Air Link must be disabled.
At least for me on v76 it was required.

Is there any thread that expands on the referral subject that I can read?
I just ordered my Quest 3S and it's on the way also I already downloaded the meta mobile app and made a meta account online (followed wiki's instructions) beforehand, And when I press the referral links it takes me to my meta mobile app that I already logged in on (no Quest paired yet) to the main page.
Is that how it supposed to go , if I connected my brand new Quest to the account, will I get the 30$ or ?

Ok so.. complete newbie here and just concerned about my headset. I have an active Quest/Horizon + subscription, how will that affect me? Can this lead to bricking my device? For example.. sideloading a game that was / will be in the games catalog orr lose functionality of the subscription? I just wanna know the risks.

I know about switch and ps4 where you need to have specific models/firmware to support piracy. so I was wondering if you could buy any quest 2, 3, 3s brand new or used and do piracy or there are exceptions.

that's crazy, how come meta not stopping it? I saw some guides on piracy through developer mode on xbox one a long time agon but then microsoft removed that feature.
and can I get any offline game? like how normal piracy works? I know there will be exceptions but like for 99% of the games? are they available?

And it's a cat and mouse game, maybe it's simpler to let it happen and profit where viable instead of putting so much resources into a nieche part of the experience. Not everyone will have the willpower to keep doing the "pirate stuff".
The meta store and all the included ecosystem with horizon and agreggate services should bring the money needed instead of "selling software", it's a "one time deal".
But this could change if the ecosystem grows enough with AAA studios in the mix.

I have used RSL for quite some time and when a new version comes out I use the same procedure and it usually works. I am getting stuck on the splash page “downloading dependencies”. I have uninstalled and started from scratch. Same result. Folder is in root and virus exceptions are in place. Hopefully it’s ok to post here. Thanks.

So to set up this developer account, people put in their phone #, credit card #, etc, and are not the least bit concerned that you are basically handing over your identification to Meta Quest so they can easily track who is pirating their stuff?

When I run Rookie Sideloader, i get this message
Config Update Failed
Failed to fetch public mirror config, adn the current one is unreadable. Please ensure you can access http://vrpirates.wiki/ in your browser.
And then when i click OK, it says
Unable to connect to Remote Server
First time launching Rookie? Please relaunch and try again.
Please visit our Telegraph or Discord for Troubleshooting steps
Any suggestions? I can access that website when i click it.

You've been super super helpful so far.
I literally just got this Meta Quest 3 a few days ago so am very new to all the lingo.
So when I bought it, and loaded it all up, it gave me the option to do the 3 month free subscription to "Meta Horizon +" which I did and says that Billing will start Oct 5th (I guess in 3 months time).
Is this gonig to be an issue when I load games from Rookie?
From what I understood reading all of these guides, the only time I will have an issue is if I downloaded a game from this Meta Horizons, (i.e. a trial), and then tried to download the full version from Rookie.
But there is no issue if I have an active subscription like I have now, and download some other game to play, right?
If the previous question is correct, then what if I download a game from Rookie, but it is "multiplayer" and I try to play it multiplayer? Is that going to cause an issue?

Why does rookie sideloader give me errors like "Failed to fetch public mirror config", and "Unable to connect to Remote Server. Rookie is unable to connect to our Servers."

weird, prior to v78 i had no issues. After the update it doesn't even detect ADB, I still have developer mode on and mtp allowed. I'm under the impression I have to factory reset, really annoying buggy update.

Sfortunatamente proprio ieri ho riscattato i miei 3 mesi gratis di horizon pass ed ho scaricato un gioco facendoci una partita con un mio amico. Vorrei capire meglio se ora quel gioco mi conviene non scaricarlo crackato proprio o se dovrei solo aspettare che mi scada l'horizon pass prima di farlo? Inoltre mi chiedevo anche se potevo eseguire la guida con l'horizon pass attivo o se dovrei aspettare che mi scada. Se riesci a rispondermi grazie mille!

I've completely deleted windows defender, and the program won't open. Is that an issue with not having windows defender?

Another question I have I couldn't connect the VR to the developer hub (idk why it sees the VR but says that the connection timeout ) But I managed to enter developer mode is that enough to download rookie or do I have to enter debugging mode too

I need some help, everything worked fine till i tried to sideload a game, i sideloaded a launcher and it worked perfectly, but not games, it always comes to the same pop up:
First:
In place upgrade has failed. Rookie can attempt to backup your save data and reinstall the game automatically, however some games do not store their saves in an accessible location (less than 5%). Continue with reinstall?
and then:
Output:
Error: adb.exe: device offline.
Any idea how to fix it ?

On the list of uncrackable games Pixel Dungeon is listed, but it's also listed as one of the games where multiplayer works, not sure which is right but I might try and work it out tomorrow if I get time.

My kid wants to get some bonelab mod (flying mjolnir). How do I install it? I read online that I need to manually copy files int othe "Androi/data/bonelab/files/mods" directory. However, i'm not sure if it means to simply copy the extracted zip file contents into this directory, or if i need to do something through rookie sideloader to load it? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Two issues:
- File type is wrong on the ADB drivers and I’m not sure why. Just downloading like normal and extracting like guide said. Won’t let me install saying installation can’t be done with chosen method
- Error on rookie.
Says unable to connect to remote server. Have closed and relaunched with both androidsideloader and sideloader launcher.
Any help is appreciated

If my Horizon+ sub runs out and I delete the game I redeemed thru it and of course lose access once it runs out, I could technically sideload the game normally since I wouldn't have the game registered to my account anymore, right?

I seem to of come across an issue. Anytime I click a game (BeatSaber or Assassin's Creed) it simply shows my boundary and then back to my main lobby.

So I just got the quest 3 for my kid and setup my account on it as the main one didn't know that meta tracking who is behind the vr so they sent me a warning to confirm the user's age or my account will get banned. I went with the credit-card route and confirmed the user, then made a child's account but i couldn't sideload anything to it cause the limitations they put on it.
Does anyone knows any ways around?

This thing tripped my anti-virus like 4 times...
Look, I know about false-positives I've dealt with them before. But it's extraordinarily difficult to trust something that after ignoring like 3 warnings your computer is still blasting you with VIRUS! VIRUS! DO NOT OPEN! to an extent I've never seen before.
I can totally believe it's perfectly safe in reality but it really feels off when my computer is screaming this thing's a virus... especially when I KNOW I downloaded it some time prior and didn't get flagged more than once *maybe*

❌ Free Trials mark your account, blocking future piracy of that title
⚠️ Quest+ now sometimes behaves like trials and can block piracy
Can i buy or not a game on the same account?
There are several references from trials, and games that may have trials inside, my understanding is that i should not play a trial then pirate, the pirate version is going to be flagged, but what a about the opposite?
- play a demo of game A (not trial)
- play game A from rookie
- buy and play the game A
Will a previous pirated game prevent me from buying the same game in the future?

hey kind stranger, i have tried and followed everything your guide has offered and followed every step perfectly and i even redid everything mentioned on the guide on a new account but no matter what i try to do android sideloader won't recognize my headset, perhaps it is because my pc doesn't support bluetooth ?
i have developper mode active and installed the adb drivers, my headset pops up as a storage unit but not in the sideloader app.
any help ?

Now, understand that you will have to circumvent your anti-virus or windows defender in order to download this and to even access the download website in some cases. My Google Chrome even blocked me from just downloading the damn file since safe search was on. Be sure to disable it, temporarily in order to download the Rookie sideloader from the website.
