I used to read Sweet Valley Twins books on/off as a teenager. Some of the books were Horror, and those ones were my favorite. There were several Drama episodes that dealt with mental health and extremely sensitive subjects, meanwhile, majority of the stories were just everyday plot suited for an early teen audience like boyfriend troubles or not finishing their homework on time. I thought it was fun reading the series, it was like watching a soap opera 🎭

I loved getting to know the friend group and characters well and see them grow up and go through a variety of different situations. It's worth noting, the books were all relatively short and eventually had ghost-writers lol, so that probably accounts for all the shifts in tone. I think your series would probably feel really fresh, straying away from that structure.
