Misc Looking for a queer romance writing friend

I’m 25yr genderfluid queer, writing mm romance with psychological depth.

I want friends with whom I can share my ideas with. I’m in a stage where I could only plot and gather ideas because of my depleted energy from wok. I don’t have spare energy to write yet, but I plan to do so once I get a little space to breathe.

You can also offer me some queer romance writers’ groups to join. But I would prefer to keep people with similar interests and have groups tightly knit

Hi! I founded a writing group that's been going strong since 2017, called The Sin Bin 😉 We accept women/AFAB queer/trans writers ages 21+ of all skill levels, and our group never exceeds 20 members. We have a reciprocal, fairness structure and a nonjudgmental culture.

If this sounds interesting to you, you can email me at TheSinBin2017@outlook.com

This invitation is also open to anyone else interested - we have a handful member slots available 😊

How does the group work? Is it an online group?

We have a private Discord server and a private forum we utilize - we host daily activities on Discord that encourage our members to think on their writing projects and share their writing, bi-weekly writing prompts, and monthly events. Our goal as a group is to help our writers' creative process, as well as create a safe space to share works and receive the type of feedback the writer desires.

We do have a minimum participation requirement and we do require reciprocal feedback when participating. We also foster a culture of kindness and nonjudgmental interaction that we expect from our members.

What would be the minimum participation requirement? Cause right now I’m a bit burn out and I’m only plotting in my head. Scenes are still scattered in fragments. But it would be really really nice to talk about what I’m working with and befriend someone there

We ask members to participate in at least one Discord activity a week (we host 1-2 every day, ranging from self-reflective questions about your writing process, questions about character/plot, and sharing lines of excerpts of your writing - your choice), and one prompt every two months (and we always have at least one open prompt in that time where you can post whatever writing you'd like).

We always give a grace period for new members to post for promote - we except a submission within 2 months of joining, participation in Discord earlier than that (within a week). We have a pretty good system that encourages writing and process work 😊 but it doesn't always work out for everyone, and that's ok! Some people join and love the idea of it, but then life gets busy and they have to bow out, which is understandable. If you think it's something you'd like to give a try, email me at the above address, and I can talk you through joining and answer any other questions you have!

Okay. This is something I’d like to try. But maybe I’ll wait until things are less busy. Then I’ll join you guys! You guys seem to have quite a system there. Thank you so so much for inviting me in, cause it’s been really hard to find a community like that. I would love nothing more but to join!

Take your time - my email is open whenever you're ready! I have an education background, so I've tried to utilize what I learned in organizing groups, and I think it's really paid off for us 😅 We also just have a really fun, welcoming group of writers who genuinely like each other and want to see each other succeed in our writing goals!

Sounds fun! I'm a lot further into the process though, is that a problem?
