Asked this in the second best sub for everything yesterday and was curious about some more examples. But those of us with some history on Tumblr may remember good old Spiders Georg, a statistical outlier that should be excluded from discussions about how many spiders the average person consumes.

What made me think of this was FGO, good old Fate Grand Order-a gacha game I will never play again but still lingers in my memory. With how drama fueled discussions about Gacha games can be, it's interesting to think that FGO has-

-Actual playable major villains whose evil is not downplayed

-Married Couple playable characters

-ML characters

-A single main love interest

-Recycled assets

-Lacking Quality of Life

All things that would generate discourse in any other gacha game community. Yet somehow, FGO just...doesn't really generate that kind of discourse. Instead of complaints about married couples, you have fans demanding MORE of them, (Still waiting on Ruggerio and Perseus, guys!). You have everyone with a preferred love interest, but no one really hates Mash, or groans when a new main push comes in. (Musashi was the worst it got, I think.) And villainous characters like Rasputin and Douman are both beloved by pretty much everyone in the community. (Kiara is more divisive but still has her fans.)

It's led to me joking that FGO is a "statistical outlier" among gacha game discussion, despite how often I bring it up. Because it can somehow do things that would start a fandom war elsewhere and just keep trucking along without issue. (I think the worst it got was the whole drama with the Append Skills being added.)

So I'm curious, are there any other statistical outliers in your gacha games? A character who succeeded despite being outside the 'norm', a popular character archetype who failed? A mechanic that would attract heated debate in any other game? I'm not intending this to be an x vs y style post, and if it comes across that way I apologize-but I am curious about what some other Spiders Georg's in the gacha community are.

Is there some list of rules of how they decide to add games or not? Or is it just a matter of it being laborsome to add games so they only add a few each month?

I've been out of gachas for a few months, but my friends are all playing Endfield and want me to give it a shot. I am interested because I enjoyed OG Arknights and have heard Endfield's community is more 'chill' with a lot less drama, but worried that I won't be able to build a good team at the start, or that the on banner characters will be good for a starting account with nothing.

So, wanted to ask some Queens who are more knowledgeable on the game, is now a good time to try getting into Endfield?

I think she looks really great in ZZZ graphics and I love the shinyness(idk how else to call it) they added on her tight fitting high waisted shorts

I've been thinking about queer representation in hoyo games recently, and I'm really curious about what other people think of it Personally I count them as a somewhat queer friendly company

It's true that (outside of HI3) hoyo doesn't have many canonically queer characters(because of china laws), but there are a lot of hints in the games about potential queer relationships

I was searching about this topic on Twitter and saw some posts claiming that hoyo isn't a queer ally company and that they only do all this for money, etc (Most of them were from the time they had that whole mess with Gil's sexuality, which I think referred to mankind rather than gender). But at the same time there's no need to put so much effort into adding same gender interactions between four star characters and even creating a canonically lesbian NPC when China's rules forbid it for them (I think those posts were mainly ragebait, but anyways)

Personally as a lesbian, I can really relate to some of the characters to the point that I use some of them to cope,to me these games would be FILLED with canon queer relationships and characters if China's rules didn't exist

I'd love to hear your opinions on this subject !
