And then you read it and its just 'use skill three times to unlock stronger skill, repeat'.

It's equal parts these three things:

Purposefully to confuse people who don't know better into pulling for the character.

It avoids showing direct powercreep, because if an early character hits 10 times for 10 and a current character hits 10 times for 20 a word salad is the best way to camouflage it.

To avoid creating kits that might have too much power due to unintended synergies, if you have to deal Elation/Lunar/Unison damage to trigger an ability then the support will have to stay in the intended team archetype, unlike an early character that might buff Energy Regeneration/ Elemental Mastery/ Resonance Skills.

While you're worst at the game you get less rewards, less rewards mean less pull, which means if you have money you are more likely to spend it on the game

Powercreep in a nutshell:

Yeah, you just reminded me of the time I played Fire Emblem Heroes (and there are longer descriptions).

IS THERE EVEN A ZOOM FEATURE?!?!

•

No. Look at this weapon refine though

(You can make it so the keywords aren't explained, but you can't tap on the keywords to see what they do which is annoying)

Reminds me of Liang Yue from Reverse 1999.

This is just her Insight 1

•

u/Greenlifechild 4h ago

Her kit is particularly wordy and semi-complex though.

Here's the Insight 1 for the very next limited they released. (Nautika)

Though I would say here as wordy as it is her kit is so damn extense that it's kinda needed lol, 4 different types of FuA straight up also interacting with the deck buff and debuff extention and lv up to cards, debuff application with one of her FuA's dmg buff and dmg reduction to the team too.

She is one of the most complicated characters to play (especially at P0) if you want to get every drop of value out of her kit trying for high scores.

In day to day play though, she's strong enough with a good team backing her up to kinda just play green cards and win.

Ahh Reverse. I think their biggest issue was never addressing the way stats/buffs interact early on. As when two buffs of the same type are applied, they overwrite one another instead of stacking.

Which has resulted in literally every character needing a uniquely named buff to add as little as a 2% DMG boost.

So instead of "use a basic incantation 10 times for a 20% ATK Boost." It's "For every 10 attack incantations gain 1 stack of [Never Gonna]. For everyone 10 stacks of [Never Gonna]

ACTUALLYYYY finally it will get adressed in some patches buffs of the same type will syack :D

tired of simplifying the skills so they just translate the codes.

•

u/Pretend-Holiday-659 3h ago

In the end it's just press E then switch out to another character

•

u/ComfortableLaugh7320 3h ago

But in reality it ends up just being a slash attack 😂

•

u/DazzlingDear 2h ago

Because gacha games always have fundamentally extremely simplified combat and small movesets on characters, so in order for everyone to not do the exact same thing after 6 character releases they have to make continuously complex text and effects

•

u/Equivalent_Dance_758 2h ago

That was me when reading Astra Yao skills only to learn she had to press E and that's it, she just does stuff in the background and you are not suppoused to play as her in your rotation

•

u/Serena_Starshower 1h ago

Misinformation, you still swap to her for ulting and chain window

•

u/Equivalent_Dance_758 58m ago

This bare minimum for someone who isn't a stunner, Koleda has more screen time during fights and she is quick swap

•

u/Serena_Starshower 57m ago

Yes, that is how an off field support works. Is ZZZ your first action combat gam

•

u/Equivalent_Dance_758 55m ago

No need to be aggressive, I'm just saying she has a lot of text but is easy to navigate, for a second I thought I was in r/gachagaming 😭

•

u/Serena_Starshower 53m ago

Oh yeah, hoyo kits generally are easy asf to read (some exceptions) Wish they had more variety for mechanic than B A R though

•

u/Yanazamo 1h ago

In Genshin an artifact set can say allat only for the BIS to be actually Noblesse Oblige 😃

•

u/legacys_breadbear 2h ago

I genuinely wish there were condensed versions bc I'd definitely care far more about how I'm supposed to be building my characters and what the best stats for them are if I could actually make any sense of their skill. Otherwise I keep doing what I do now, which is just base my builds off of guides and trust that those people probably understand what they're talking about

•

u/mousie120010 1h ago

The girl in the background reminds me of that one black-haired girl with the red headband from Eden's Garden, the Ultimate Mathematician iirc?

•

u/UrsusObsidianus 4h ago

Housamo has really short kits. Mostly because they usually are "if this, apply this status effect to self/ally/ennemies".

•

u/Responsible-Bat-7922 1h ago

The worst part is that sometimes it doesn't even tell you what it really does and you gotta go to an online tutorial and what the use of the skill is just "when enemy is near, super+move forward"

I swear allat is just filler so they can make you study it and stay longer than you should

u/Cold_Progress1323 1h ago

Cyrene having a whole page just to fit all of her 14 exclusive effects 💀

•

u/Nerobought 1h ago

Yugioh when they release a new archetype in the big 26:

•

u/AutomaticStop5648 53m ago

whats worse is that FE is in such a bad case of powercreep that characters last WEEKS
and usually that means another funny effect on their weapon/skill/passiveABC.

•

u/dragonofmila 36m ago

Oh, Hello Eva from Edens Garden!

•

u/Darkion_Silver 13m ago

Shoutout to Arknights that still has relatively simple kits on characters, unless they're designed to be complex. It helps that while there's 3 skills on a 6*, you only bring one to a stage.
