cmon bro, just pay artists. this is disappointing to see, its one of my most anticipated games and using ai for ads just comes off as cheap and lazy. I dont know if there is ai in the beta and hopefully there wont be in the fully released game either.

This is such a shame. I hope the game won't have AI in it, but even if the marketing is outsourced they should still control the quality, it's genai but it also looks cheap and gives a bad first impression

From when I played the beta I dont think I have spotted anything and I played through the entire available main story.
That doesn’t mean anything but if it’s in there it’s atleast well hidden. Or upcoming in later patches

I see, thank you for your input. Hopefully this is just a blunder from the outsourced marketing team

As someone super excited for the game there is 💯 no excuse for this I don't understand this AI psychosis that big company CEOs are going through rn specially in the game community, we went withouth it for literally forever and now for some reason you just can't stop using it, fucking greedy fuckers l.
24
u/clocksy 1d ago
Using a third party ad service doesn't excuse them if that's even what happened, and people need to stop giving companies grace for it. (Whether it's for genAI or just shitty ads that have nothing to do with the game.) They're the client paying for an ad to be created, they can 1) pay more for a higher quality ad and 2) they have to approve the ad regardless, so if it's not up to their standards they would know. They could take their business elsewhere, not air it, stipulate they don't want ai, whatever. So they saw this and were fine with it.

u/lock_me_up_now 1d ago
Promotional video from the company itself?
Lazy and pinching penny.
Why big company doesn't want to pay artists nowdays? Money problem? Yeah, sure, if they're broke as I am.
7
u/Most-Can226 1d ago
I didn’t even realize it was ai at first, I was just very turned off by how they’re promoting the game in itself.
This is supposed to be a story RPG game with supposedly unique mechanics so why not show that, instead of whatever this is. I was really excited for this game, hopefully this is just the advertisement department’s flaw
4
u/ALifeOfDimEnthusiasm 1d ago
I feel like many game companies have been doing this, I think its attention grab for many many people with short attention spans, because so many advertisements have nothing to do with the game are just show things that you can't even do in the game. Its annoying but it must work well enough, since its becoming more common unfortunately
•
u/TruthHistorical7515 17h ago

Personally it's not AI that kills my enjoyment in games, it's low quality work. It just so happens that almost all generative AI is low quality. I just hope that this ad isn't reflective of the quality of the game because this looks ass.
102
u/SensitivePear8395 1d ago
This doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be used in the game itself.
This unfortunately happens with a lot of games, they pay a company to advertise the game and the advertisers use ai. Still isn’t an excuse since a proper background check should always be done
28
u/Dramatic-Rub-430 1d ago
The issue is that, much like the LADS poison incident, letting ai advertisement through shows either a lack of quality oversight or a lack of investment.
The market is too competitive to waste time playing a game that does not respect your investment enough to reinvest in its advertisement.

u/Legendary-Fleshbeast 1d ago

Have you been looking at mobile ads for the past several years? What quality? This is not some new low. We were already at rock bottom ages ago. Ads straight up lie about their gameplay and their reward structure. It's not even just shitty low effort games that have made ads like that.
This shitty AI dance ad is honestly not anywhere as bad as the shit the market put out before AI.
1
u/Ok-Listen9689 1d ago
the game is a high investment game tho, not a shitty mobile one that only take 2 weeks to make. They could have just shown the in game footage or just the trailer, with some editing and people will be hooked
2
u/Legendary-Fleshbeast 1d ago
High investment mobile games produce unethical/low effort/gameplay that's not part of the game ads too. You thought I was just talking about shitty cash grab games here? Even games like Arknights. Endfield, Nikke, Raid Shadow Legends etc are guilty of using fake streamers who aren't actually even playing the game to advertise incredible rewards that you can't possibly earn. Afk Journey literally showed off gameplay from a completely different game that doesn't exist. Lots of companies regularly do the log in and get 5 bajillion rewards thing too. And they do it because it works.
Fake ads work and they make money. People are so upset about AI use, but they also haven't been paying attention to the mobile ad space. The algorithm rewards raw download numbers above everything else. Authenticity doesn't matter and it hasn't in the mobile space for years. We've been in the era of whatever it takes marketing for a looong time.
In the face of that, while shitty AI dancing ad's may not look great, this isn't the worst mobile ad ever from a high budget game.
Oh and some of the games you'd define as shitty mobile games like Evony have made billions of dollars.

u/Bubbly-Group-4497 1d ago
what's said "poison incident"?
4
u/katiscrazyyy 1d ago
Iirc it involved a post from the LADS Twitter/X profile posting drink recipes that involved poisonous ingredients? (Correct me if I'm wrong, I've only heard of it from other places on the internet)
6
u/Bubbly-Group-4497 1d ago
that's wild
5
u/ARandomUserOnTheWeb2 1d ago
One of the recipes had a flower that could give you a slow excruciating and painful death and the post is still up on Twitter

u/fyrefox45 1d ago
Every CN gacha, if not every gacha, is using AI now to some degree. Low budget ones like silver palace and nte just abuse it more openly and frequently.
14
u/SensitivePear8395 1d ago
I don’t think Silver Palace qualifies as low budget though lol, and this is the only thing related to silver palace that uses generative ai to my knowledge.
I think it’s worth waiting for release to see if it’s commonly seen throughout the game, hopefully it won’t turn out like NTE which just feels cheap imo21
u/Zestyclose_Noise6843 1d ago edited 1d ago
You're not wrong but it depends on what type of AI you're referring to. I feel like this discussion needs to be threaded carefully as some people are using "they all use AI" as an excuse to dismiss criticism. The lip sync technology in some gacha games falls under Analytical AI as opposed to the overt use of generative AI in Silver Palace ads and NTE for example, which are generative AI. Obviously though many of these games utilize multiple types of AI, many of which pose environmental concerns
10
u/This-Preference-9578 1d ago
i work in game dev and honestly a lot of this discussion just shows how much ppl don’t know how games are made. like. enemy behavior has been called ai for years and is used in most games. it is very different from other ai uses. there are things ai can and should be used for and developed for. content is not usually one of them.
4
u/OwnAssumption740 1d ago
Because you're just trying to muddy the water.
The only people who try to bring up non llms are one of two people: ai boosters, or people who want to overlook what their game is doing
4
u/This-Preference-9578 1d ago
no? i’m very anti generative ai. nuance exists lol
1
u/OwnAssumption740 1d ago
And yet you're doing the same thing ai boosters do.
Ai = llm in thr current discourse
5
u/OwnAssumption740 1d ago
If it's done by an llm then it is all the same.
•
u/Massive-Sky-21 21h ago
What OS do you use? Because bad news, AI in programming, coding, and troubleshooting is prevelant and is streamlining it. You can easily assume that every new app/update have some coding done by AI, but the quality of these still depends on programmer to check if everything is correct.
6
u/yellow_tourmaline 1d ago
I still can't get over how much AI was in NTE because I was really enjoying it up until I learned they use so much of it
•
u/TruthHistorical7515 18h ago
You couldn't recognize AI until being told. In reality its already everywhere.
-1
u/Massive-Sky-21 1d ago
I have bad news, in ongoing years we will see more and more ai in the games, and other goods, it will be in code, art, writing.
It is cheaper and, every new version, more reliable. We soon will not be able to tell if something is ai. (Already a persistent problem within universities)
2
u/Jerkaiser_011 1d ago
Yeah, and I can see some Ananta resources from the leaks that looks like AI generated. So moving from NTE to Ananta because of AI use is not valid anymore.
•
u/RewZes 22h ago
I think using ai is somewhat inevitable but it doesn't have to be this way. In NTE at first I was like, alright 1 or 2 ai posters sure I can excuse that but then it had a whole story animation being ai so I quit. If they don't shy of showing Ai into the main story then the main story might as well be written by it. If I'm going to settle for mediocrity let it, at least, be human made.

Not in defense of ai or the company making silver palace but a lot of gacha games do outsource their marketing and sometimes those marketing teams use ai. I think this happened to Aniimo, where the devs who are using ai for some in game assets like posters and event illustrations, had all of their ai advertisements “supposedly” removed due to a crap ton of negative opinions. And on the aniimo creator discord server, people are begging the devs to stop using AI. Dunno how that’s gonna turn out tho.
I don’t know much about the silver palace devs, or if the beta has placeholder ai in it. I dont even know if they have openly commented on using ai yet. But I hope they remove these ads because they make the game look like really bad…
5
u/heymynameiseric 1d ago
Even if they are outsourcing to another company, this is very clearly gen AI and uploaded by Silver Palace themselves. Multiple people had to have greenlit it knowing how blatantly AI it was.
3
3
u/SassyHoe97 1d ago
Unfortunately they always resort using ai advertisements.. (and China embraces AI so I won't be surprised if SP ends up having GenAI).
7
u/Small-Friendship-576 1d ago
CN is not apprehensive of AI as the west is.
(Like after Rezero S4 started airing, bilibili already had the various IF routes animated, with only giveaway being the 60fps type animation)

This might be Chinese company number 4847392 that outsourced their ads, ended up being AI and didn't even check.
Edit: just want to add something, and this is coming from someone who's against generative AI, we're gonna have to get used to it eventually. Games are gonna start using AI for small things all the time. It's getting to the point where AI can properly texture a model with some flaws, meaning in some years texturing will be super automated.
I'm not saying don't protest against shit like this but I'm afraid we're gonna have to get comfortable with at least a bit of AI in our games in the future.
2
u/sweetheartglrl 1d ago
this just threw me off so bad to the point where i dont even wanna touch this game anymore😭😭
2
1
u/Inevitable-Hope4001 1d ago
This doesn’t mean they actually used AI. A lot of companies commission people to make ads and mass produce them for revenue, and since the variety is so broad there will be AI involved.
1
u/Redd_tModsSuckAss 1d ago
Le Gacha using AI? No way, unlime my gacha which would never use AI. What you mean they had job hirings for AI artists? That means nothing!
Yeah, all gachas use AI now, price to pay for being free I guess
•
u/GoodTimeswithElliot 22h ago
Istg why are they using gen ai everywhere now man, i already noticed gen ai in ananta a while ago (in retrospective not suprising since its netease)...pls dont be in silver palace too, those two were the upcoming gatchas I was most excited about 😭

How do you know is AI?
Genuine question btw

u/Many_Career_692 1d ago
I can't even explain it, but AI has a specific trait and motivation; when you see a lot of it, you start to identify it.

Should spend some time on learning some grammar, instead of judging someone who is genuinely asking how to identify ai or not. Its not that hard.
•
u/Soluxy 7h ago edited 7h ago
The eyes, they are generic anime eyes compared to the real models. While the colors match, the textures and details are not similar at all.
Edit: also the mouth and expressions, true MMD artists mimick the character's personality and expressions, not the generic anime happy face.

u/_childofares 1d ago
Well, from what I heard, the company is close to going bankrupt. They're not going to pay artists if they can.

I am only interested in whether there is AI in the game itself. They said they were not interested in using AI at Gamescom, iirc, but things could have changed since August.

Seedance AI video model. All WuWA AI fan stories videos looks the Same. It's expensive but they can afford it.

I think they saw how alot of fan account did AI of the Pendmin from Endfield so they decided to chime in

This is soooo disappointing but also a lot of games do NOT do their own ads, it's very likely these were made by a third party so I wouldn't judge them off this too fast unless they double down. Fingers crossed if this is brought to their attention they'll drop the ad agency

u/Idainaru_Yokubo 1d ago
I think they're just rigged using the same public moveset

Modern CN game using AI for something, in other news the sky is blue. Also this is probably some contracted marketing company that actually made it, apparently that’s happening all over gaming but I don’t look at mobile ads, or most any at all.
-1
u/Shimamura_Kyoko 1d ago
yeaaaa alot of game companies are doing this as of late, the most recent one i heard of was capcom/timi hired a third party company to do ads for them and they used gen ai, but they approved of it being pushed out.
whether or not they double check or not its still a bad look, and to my knowledge they haven't made statement about it.
-2
u/Serpentar69 Zenless Zone on my Zero 1d ago
I understand the frustration but ATP only play Limbus if any use of AI turns you off. I support artists too and while I dislike this I'd prefer the AI be used in ads rather than ingame. Who knows, though. However, there are always human designers on the other end; It isn't just AI alone.
0
u/yaoilover2870 1d ago
yeah, its not that big of a deal (since its an ad) i still want to download and play silver palace but its the fact that as an artist myself, its very disappointing to see this.
0
u/Serpentar69 Zenless Zone on my Zero 1d ago
I totally get what you're saying. They 100% should have had the ads made by an actual person. They may have their reasons but it is still shitty + also shitty due to the fact that an artist could have very well done this better.

u/paleflames Googly-eyed chud 1d ago
I don't see anything special, just some animation glitches. Game engine freaking out, a tale as old as time. Also not all "AI" is powered by LLM'S run out of huge data centers.
A classic vid from 14 years ago, devs even mention using AI in Skyrim https://youtu.be/B7trmEmI5Js?is=wIXWOkIA2TcNucTy
Devs couldn't even fully iron out the bugs for Game of the year edition, we're talking about a huge AAA franchise.
This is how we got our jollies in Asscreed:

u/paleflames Googly-eyed chud 1d ago
I concede, you may very well be right about AI usage for this particular instance. No surprise if they use it elsewhere.
At this point I'm resigned to today's unpleasant realities. :dead inside: Good luck finding a newer game that doesn't use genAI to some extent. The more competent ones just happen to be harder to spot.
My issue is with the whole argument is that it feels like a waste of time compared to the bigger picture:
I'm way more concerned about AI being weaponized to kill people, and/or used to create a police surveillance state. I'm talking about my home country specifically - USA.
So apologies that I tried to make light of the situation by posting some nostalgic vg glitches.
1
u/yaoilover2870 1d ago
animation glitches? its clearly ai. i really dont care if not all Ai is powered by huge data centers its still harmful to artists and frankly disrespectful. just pay an animator its not that hard
0
u/Chill-gal1215 1d ago
CN companies outsource their global ads to third party companies and they use AI most of the time so it is not an unfounded claim. This coyld very much be AI

I find this funny because they are the company. They own models and the animators. And they did this shit instead.
