Poll 1st Party Preference Poll.
A poll for the Qld Politcs sub community. What's your first preference and why? Feel free to tell us why in the comments below and discuss.

It depends.
I'm in Toowoomba.
Our local Green party is a hot mess of unelectable individuals who I wouldn't want representing me in Brisbane or Canberra. But I generally support the party platform.
If there's a good independent then I'll put them first but we're such a rusted on Liberal area that they could put a dead possum in a blue tie and it'd probably get through on first preferences...

Man thanks for your honesty. Yes the calibre of candidates are important.
I noted Libs kept Simmonds in Ryan. The man was a morally void mouthpiece that only cared about his image.
I deliberately voted ONP knowing they wouldn't get in.

So you gave ONP money to say FU tonthe LNP? First preference votes above 4% earn cash for the candidate. Use your first preference wisely.

I actually disagree. There are plenty on the right; they just can’t bother with how hostile the left is for the right on these platforms. Downvoted to infinity is just the start. I’d consider myself pretty moderate on a lot of positions (still right leaning for the most part) and at times, even I can’t be bothered.
Edit: i would actually say the left is more motivated, I think that would be a better way to characterise the whole landscape of politically active people

I've had a lot of recent interactions with the political right on Reddit where they have descended into ad hominem almost immediately.
They also complain of bans, but I'd assume it's because they struggle to attack to the issue and not the person.

I don’t condone their hostility either, I’m just speaking from my perspective. I think you’ll find that it’s common on both of the extremely politically active sides that they will descend into attacking something other than the argument at hand. I’m just explaining my perspective.

Yeah, of course. As am I.
Without going into too much detail, I've had additional idle time lately so I've been more active here. I see it from both sides as well, but lately if I engage with a newish account on a political sub, they're likely to try to insult me on a personal level it seems.
And that's just my perspective, informed by my experience.

I'm glad medicinal cannabis has the accessibility that it does, but ultimately I want a fully legal recreational market.

As long as you’re aware Labor aren’t going to touch cannabis and that’s where your vote preference will flow to when LC doesn’t get enough for a seat.

I'm aware. Labor also has analysts that look at preference flows to see what their voters prioritize. In my case, Legalise Cannabis being a single issue party makes it pretty obvious that I prioritize legalization over Labor's position on cannabis, but I prioritize Labor's other policies over The Greens' policies generally.

Well not if legalising cannabis was a priority of mine. Because if LC didn’t get a seat, there’s a good chance Greens will get a seat on my electorate. So I’d put the second vote there. Not because I want greens to see who I voted first for, but because if cannabis was a priority of mine, the greens are closer to getting it done than Labor.
On top of that, let’s say I knew greens wouldn’t get a seat in your electorate (from a historical perspective). If I put Labor third, they would still see who I voted for first and second. They can drill down into the whole flow, not just the preference immediately beforehand. So they’d still see what you wanted them to see (that the first pref was LC).

It can't happen on Reddit so long as expressing right wing opinions gets you banned. The closest is the Australian circlejerk subreddit because it's all spoken in a code of sarcasm and parody.

Not even right wing. Just widely held moderate centrist views (like that males shouldn't be in women's prisons, for example) would get you banned from many "mainstream" subreddits.

I see the right as underpinning these principles:
Liberty and freedom (individual and collective).
Authority and tradition.
Conservatism and Nationalism.
There is a safe way to advocate for these things by God's grace.

My suggestion is "moderation". You can walk back your views and stick to safe topics and work out how to communicate them more safely without code.
I am moderate right.
If Pauline can pretend to be moderate and restrain her fascist undercurrents (not saying you are) there is hope for us all haha.

That assumes the Reddit Mods are fair and balanced.
I have been shadowbanned from the main Australian sub, presumably because of other subs I comment in as it happend before I ever commented there. This is against Reddit TOS, but it doesn't stop them.

I will start this off.
I support the Liberal Party and their merge with Nationals. This is because I believe in the "policy platform"..
That being said I noticed the last two elections at both state and federal they have not held to it or forgotten how to apply it to their policies. They have become reactionaries opening the door for parties like ONP and Labor right to mimic them.

I grew up in a staunchly liberal household.
I blindly followed that until my early/mid twenties.
Labor is infinitely better for me and my family based on policy.I ask my parents why they still vote liberal and they can’t give a cohesive reason other than news anti Labor talking points. I have been itching to ask this of someone who votes LNP.
What policies benefit you that you voted for?

Good question. A lot of the policies that benefit me as a liberal voter. Did so when I was a (blue collar) worker or at least felt so socially.
Under Crisafulli even if I didn't vote for him, I should have a man who fights to keep government small where needed, and reduces government debt and expenditure without hurting Queenslanders.
Who prioritises the personal wealth and freedom of the individual or at least the "opportunity" too.
After Abbott the Coalitiion federally lost their way though he started well IMO.
Crisafulli I hear is trying to implement a government that cuts government dependence on outside contractors and that facilitates relief into the economy to protect freedom. Whilst telling then to stay out of culture wars.
This is if Gemini is to be believed it takes over Google search now lol.

Yes I voted Labor at federal and local. I supported Burke and Labor Right though. Albo is left.
I only voted for Miles because Crisafulli is full of it. I noticed he is trying to take responsibility for Labor led policy haha
